Future Phone – Part Two

Since being rented out half a month ago, after a week of intense, round-the-clock renovation, Jiuxiao Network Technology Company has successfully opened, with Yang Jianfeng as the company’s CEO. Of course, he is the biggest assistant besides Hao Yunyang, the nominal chairman, and Zhao Zhen, the director, responsible for the entire company’s operations.

The two vice presidents are a man and a woman. The man is called Zhao Guobing, a Shandong native, forty-seven years old, responsible for the company’s technical matters. The woman is called Chen Rongrong, from Shanghai, thirty-eight years old, responsible for the company’s operational aspects. The two are naturally Yang Jianfeng’s right-hand men, and although the company has been established for a short time, they have already worked together quite tacitly.

Although Jiuxiao Network Technology Company has been established for some days, the actual website operation begins today.

After days of polishing and rehearsal, coordination between departments has significantly improved. Besides the CEO and two vice presidents, the company also has one executive assistant, five department managers, nine deputy department managers, and over a hundred employees.

Everything is prepared, with server checks proceeding in an orderly and intense manner. Everyone is standing ready. Once the servers start running normally, each department and employee will take their positions, tasks that Yang Jianfeng had already arranged previously.

Compared to the Jiuxiao Graphic Design studio run by Hao Yunyang, the Jiuxiao Network under Yang Jianfeng’s leadership looks more like a proper company. Hao Yunyang’s studio, perhaps now manageable under Liu Ming’s care, was during Hao Yunyang’s time as general manager far from being a company, more like a workshop.

“CEO Yang, we’ve checked, everything is normal!” A technician named Xiao Zhang poked his head out from the server room, shouting to Yang Jianfeng standing nearby: “Can we start running?”

“Mm.” Yang Jianfeng slightly turned, glanced at him, and gently nodded, then turned to look at the already prepared employees in the vast office area, took a deep breath, and said: “Begin.”

The large lights in the office area were turned on, instantly brightening the previously dim space. Under the bright and spotlighting lamps, employees began to bustle about.

“Have the review department get ready, don’t be caught off guard later,” Yang Jianfeng slightly turned to look at Vice President Zhao Guobing on his left, saying: “Go and keep an eye on them.”

“Mm.” Zhao Guobing responded, turning and walking with a powerful stride towards the review department’s office area separated by thick wooden boards.

As a professional manager with nearly thirty years of experience, Zhao Guobing clearly understood what he needed to do. Now that the company’s website was launching, showing off his vice presidential authority and being overly directive would only leave a bad impression. Sometimes, it’s better to get hands-on.

“Strive for the 15th place, brave the 14th place, knock down the 13th place, defeat the 12th place, jump to the 11th place!” A series of slogans was shouted out, almost blowing off the ceiling of Jiuxiao Graphic Design Company. Hearing these nonsensical chants, Liu Ming’s eyes crinkled with a smile, and he did not stop their yelling.

He was not worried that they couldn’t produce good works; what he feared most was that these people lacked confidence! What’s wrong with shouting a few words? This isn’t a Western restaurant!

Such a situation was unimaginable on Yang Jianfeng’s side. This was related to the company’s industry and atmosphere, but more importantly, it was about the leader’s mindset.

This was the biggest difference between Liu Ming, Yang Jianfeng, and most professional managers.

While Jiuxiao Graphic Design Company was making a ruckus, a tense atmosphere permeated the company building of Zhao Zhen in Beijing. Everyone understood that this was a critical moment for the company to change its battlefield. Zhao Zhen’s face was solemn as he stood silently in front of his office door.

A manager named Yu was standing in the center of the office area, shouting: “We can only win this battle, not lose! Show the strength of a top-tier domestic graphic design company, display the might of a top-tier domestic graphic design company! Understood?!”

“Understood!” The entire company responded in unison.

The same scene was playing out in hundreds of graphic design companies across China. Everyone understood that the emergence of Jiuxiao Weike had opened a broad avenue for graphic design companies to connect with the internet. As long as one’s abilities were strong enough and could upgrade their Weike ranking, they could naturally receive projects with higher commissions!

Moreover, Jiuxiao Weike had placed restrictions on the number of project participants. While this increased the activity and urgency of Weike users refreshing pages, it also provided some psychological relief for Weike members already involved in projects.

It could be said that when Jiuxiao Weike was officially launched, it was the most tense moment for graphic design industry practitioners. Leaving reality and entering the internet increased business volume while also intensifying competition. There were pros and cons, and the key lay in the participants’ mindset and confidence.

Naturally, those focusing on Jiuxiao Weike were not limited to graphic design industry practitioners. Many employers needing logo design, packaging design, interior design, and other graphic designs had long received the news and postponed their projects, waiting for Jiuxiao Weike to launch.

Anyone with a bit of sense could guess the popularity of Jiuxiao Weike’s launch, with elite graphic designers gathering. Perhaps in the near future, the Weike ranking would become a measure of a designer’s ability in the real world!

Less than a minute after the website launched, registered member numbers had already exceeded a hundred, all quick-handed people. After all, registering on the Jiuxiao Weike website was not simply filling in a verification code, but required detailed personal information and over ten selection items. Only after completing these could registration be completed.

If even one column was left blank, registration could not be completed. Though one could try to fill it with random numbers or text, modifying the registration later would be difficult. One would need to contact customer service to retrieve and verify data, with verification taking up to three working days, and with various time restrictions.

These conditions had been declared before the website launch, and most people should have understood the rules and procedures.

Half an hour later, registered member numbers successfully broke ten thousand and continued growing. Meanwhile, the audit department staff were completely busy, both setting requirements for Weike members’ works and reviewing employers’ posted projects. However, facing this situation, Yang Jianfeng just smiled – being busy was good!

Fan Lirong quickly made arrangements for Chen Siwei: “Since he has spoken to you about these things, he must want to convey some information to you. Go see him tomorrow and see what he says!”

“Okay.” The problem that had troubled him for a long time was resolved in Fan Lirong’s few words. Looking at his wife’s face, which had maintained the same appearance since an unintentional remark he made over a decade ago, Chen Siwei was deeply moved and was about to make an affectionate gesture when Fan Lirong calmly stood up from the bed’s edge and said: “It’s time to pick up Liangliang from school.”
