The call came at the right time; if he had continued, she wouldn’t know how to handle him. Luo Yaling’s heart relaxed.
After finishing the call, Chen Lei apologetically told her he had urgent matters and would leave first.
When Chen Lei completely disappeared from her sight, Luo Yaling’s mood brightened.
“Yay! Great! I’m leaving!” she exclaimed, dancing with joy as she stepped out of the store. However, after a few steps, a sudden chill ran down her back, making her stop.
Could there really be ghosts in broad daylight? Ignoring the sensation, she continued walking, but it returned. Reluctantly, Luo Yaling turned her head, and instead of a ghost, she saw Shen Yixuan sitting in a nearby car.
Her purple eyes brightened with surprise and joy. Was he there to settle accounts or to visit her? Should she invite him upstairs? A slight smile appeared on her face as she considered the recent events.
Time passed with Shen Yixuan staring at her, neither of them moving. Yet, Luo Yaling began to feel uncomfortable under his gaze. She wasn’t an exhibit! Hmph! While contemplating turning away, her feet moved toward him instead.
Suddenly, she noticed Shen Yixuan’s cold eyes and the mocking curve of his mouth.
Hmph!
Two can play at that game! Luo Yaling formed a sarcastic smile as she said to Shen Yixuan, “President Shen, you seem quite leisurely! Are you here to check if I’m dead or to laugh at me?”
“You seem to be doing quite well,” Shen Yixuan replied neutrally. Although Aunt Wu had been reporting daily, he wanted to check for himself. Unfortunately, he arrived to see her getting close with someone else. Didn’t she learn her lesson? Now she was speaking to him this way—she definitely needed to be taught a lesson.
How strange, why is he becoming increasingly odd? Could it be because of that night?
Shen Yixuan’s expression remained calm, despite Luo Yaling’s provocation. Saying more would be futile.
He started the car, wanting to leave before becoming angry, but Luo Yaling blocked his path and showed no intention of moving. Shen Yixuan had no choice but to reverse the car.
“President Shen, be careful driving! Don’t accidentally hit someone!” Luo Yaling waved sarcastically.
Suddenly, a student on a bicycle approached at high speed behind Luo Yaling. The cyclist hadn’t seen her and, by the time he tried to swerve, it was too late.
“Girl!
“Shen Yixuan quickly got out of the car, but his swift actions couldn’t prevent the impending accident.
Both the student and Luo Yaling fell to the ground. The male student, realizing he had caused the accident, quickly got up and fled the scene with his bicycle, vanishing without a trace.
Shen Yixuan could have caught the student but saw no point; the incident had already occurred, and he believed it pointless to blame the kid. Instead, he was more concerned about the person on the ground.
What happened to the girl? Was she knocked unconscious? Her long hair covered her face, making it difficult for Shen Yixuan to assess her condition.
His expression darkened as he gently lifted the sideways-lying Luo Yaling into his arms.
“Ugh… Why am I always the unlucky one? Nothing good ever happens when I meet you. It hurts so much!” she exclaimed, slapping Shen Yixuan’s chest.
She hadn’t done anything wrong; why did heaven keep tormenting her? Did heaven send a bicycle to bully her?
No! It wasn’t heaven’s fault. It was probably Shen Yixuan.
“Where?” Shen Yixuan suddenly blurted out, causing Luo Yaling to stare at him in confusion.
“I don’t need your fake kindness,” she retorted. It seemed bullying her and then showing concern was his specialty. “Don’t you think these lines sound familiar?”
“Was she misunderstanding something again? Did she think he had sent someone to hit her? Sigh! She often misunderstood essential matters.
“You… Hmph! Go ahead and laugh! Even if I die from being hit, it’s my business. I don’t need your concern.” Luo Yaling snorted.
“Luo Yaling, don’t try to provoke me. It won’t do you any good.” A hint of fire flickered in Shen Yixuan’s dark eyes.
“Since you hate me so much, please put me down. I have legs, and I can walk myself.” Despite her words, she nestled in Shen Yixuan’s arms.
“Do you really want me to put you down? Then I’ll put you down.” Shen Yixuan suddenly let go, causing Luo Yaling to fall with a ‘bang’ on the ground.
“How can you just drop me like that? Ouch! My waist!” Luo Yaling slowly tried to get up, but…
“I’m leaving.” Shen Yixuan walked a few steps before speaking.
“You can’t leave. Stop right there! Come back!” Luo Yaling called after him.
“What is it?” Shen Yixuan stopped and faced Luo Yaling.
“Come closer, and I’ll tell you.” Luo Yaling pouted.
“Can you tell me now?” Shen Yixuan walked closer.
“Squat down, and then I’ll tell you.” Luo Yaling waved him closer.
What was she up to? Despite his thoughts, he obediently squatted down.”
When Shen Yixuan squatted, Luo Yaling climbed onto his back and said, “I sprained my ankle. Carry me upstairs.” Her purple eyes sparkled with a mischievous smile.
Shen Yixuan smiled back, but wished she had asked earlier. He noticed her domineering tone, reminiscent of that night, and wondered if she remembered. He carried her upstairs, lost in thought.
Chapter Sixty-Seven: Husband?
As Shen Yixuan entered Luo Yaling’s place, he considered leaving immediately.
“Hey! Why are you carrying me in and then trying to leave?” Luo Yaling protested.
“You actually live in this smoky, messy place? Are you sure it’s your home?” Shen Yixuan questioned.
“What do you mean ‘smoky and messy’? It’s just a bit disorganized! It’s my home, I know it!” she shouted in his ear.
“I can hear you. Don’t be so loud.” Shen Yixuan replied while carrying her outside.
Hadn’t the housekeeper helped her organize anything? It was a mess.
“Then why are you still going out?” Luo Yaling asked.
“I think this smoky, messy room needs some tidying.”
“We should go back to my place,” Shen Yixuan murmured to Luo Yaling.
“Why? I’m already home. Just put me down!” Luo Yaling wiggled on Shen Yixuan’s back, hoping he would set her down, but he didn’t.
“No, you’re not in a good condition to take care of yourself. Come back with me,” Shen Yixuan replied, his tone serious.
“Why should I go back with you? I’m already home; let me down. I can take care of myself.” Luo Yaling continued to squirm.
“You’d better not move around, or I won’t care if you fall,” Shen Yixuan cautioned as he carried her down the stairs.
“Okay, I won’t move. But you still haven’t told me why I should go back with you,” Luo Yaling said, glancing at the long staircase.
“Because I’m your husband,” Shen Yixuan stated matter-of-factly.
“Huh???” Luo Yaling was taken aback.
Ignoring her shock, Shen Yixuan placed her in the passenger seat, fastened her seatbelt, closed the door, and returned to the driver’s seat, driving off.
“What!!! When did you become my husband?” Luo Yaling finally exclaimed.
“You said it yourself,” he replied, indifferent to her confusion.
“Me?” she asked, perplexed.
“Who else if not you?” Shen Yixuan answered expressionlessly.
“I don’t know. Do you have… any proof?” Luo Yaling inquired, looking at Shen Yixuan’s side profile.
She… when did she say that? She should have some evidence of something she said! How could she not remember at all? He didn’t seem like someone who would lie, so he probably wouldn’t deceive her. Did she really say that?
“It’s on your hand. Your hand can prove it.” Shen Yixuan glanced at Luo Yaling’s fingers and his own.
