“Yes! I’m the sister of the master you speak of, so naturally, I’m the master here.” Seeing their shock, she breathed a sigh of relief. Secretly, she thought, Let me play with you, my new toys.
[Volume 2: 7, Banquet]
Night, Haleigh Leight’s Villa
The banquet hall was brightly lit and luxuriously decorated. Men in sharp suits and beautifully dressed women moved back and forth, conversing. They displayed their most elegant and dignified demeanor.
Aren’t I giving you a chance to meet beautiful women?” Bi Yue Te Henry said with a teasing expression.
“You guy.” Helai Bo Laite punched his friend, but the genuine smile on his face told everyone the punch wasn’t hard.
“Hey, Helai Bo, how is it? After looking for so long, found anyone you like?”
“What? Did my mom hire you as a spy?” Helai Bo picked up the wine glass from the nearby table.
“Madam, it’s all for your own good. You should settle down quickly. You’re driving me crazy,” Bi Yue Te Henry said with a pitiful expression.
“Annoyed? Aren’t you the best at handling women? Or are the recent rumors true that you’ve been bewitched by a woman and frequently appearing at various parties just to see her?” Helai Bo Laite teased.
Bi Yue Te Henry drank his wine in one gulp, saying bitterly, “So you know about this.”
“Do you think there’s anything in our circle that I don’t know?”
“True.”
Helai Bo Laite looked at his dejected friend and said, “Look, anything tonight? If there is, tell me. Whoever you’ve set your eyes on must be a stunning beauty!”
“She won’t appear here. She already has a fiancé,” Bi Yue Te Henry was feeling bitter.
“I thought… It’s not like she has a husband. Even if she did, with divorce rates so high now, what’s there to be afraid of?” Helai Bo Laite looked dismissive.
“You’re right, haha! Let’s drink.”
Tonight, let’s not talk about my matters. Don’t forget, today is your wife-selection conference!” Bi Yue Te Henry put away his dejected expression and laughed.
A commotion at the door attracted the two chatting friends. Helai Bo Laite stood up and said to Bi Yue Te Henry, “Bi Yue Te, I’ll go check what’s happening?” Then he walked straight to the door causing the disturbance.
Bi Yue Te Henry glanced at the empty hall. The few remaining people had followed Helai Bo Laite out. He also walked towards the door. Maybe he could help his friend.
“Who are you exactly?” Hays turned towards the woman playing with her subordinate’s gun. The woman who was just being held at gunpoint now stood calmly before him, while his subordinate had already gone to report to the King of Hell. This woman was too fast, and his hand slowly moved towards the gun behind him.
“I advise you not to reach for the gun,” Leng Youlan said coldly, her lively eyes fixed on the gun in her hand.
“Miss, killing someone at my doorstep seems to be showing little respect for Haleigh Light,” Haleigh Light said calmly.
Leng Youlan glanced at Hays’ halted hand and turned to Haleigh, saying coldly, “So composed. I must admit I’m slightly impressed. But isn’t it wrong to falsely accuse someone? Did you see me fire the shot?”
“Hmph, let’s speak plainly. Miss, why bother?” Hays also said calmly.
A cold smile played on Leng Youlan’s lips. “Fine, since we’re speaking plainly, I’ll tell you both – I wasn’t the one who fired.” She tossed the gun back to Hays coldly. “This gun is no good. Here it is back. Check if the bullets are full.”
Hays quickly checked the bullets and told Haleigh, “They’re full.”
Haleigh and Hays exchanged a swift glance, instantly attacking Leng Youlan.
“Looking to die?” A fierce light flashed in Leng Youlan’s eyes. She stepped back, and three people immediately appeared, engaging the two attackers. Snow and Yan also appeared on either side of Leng Youlan, protecting their mistress.
When Haleigh Light saw that one of the three was his good friend, he was shocked. He exclaimed, “Biyue.”
Biyue Henry knew his actions were wrong, but the moment he recognized Leng Youlan, he couldn’t control himself.
A momentary distraction caused Haleigh to be kicked, blood immediately appearing at the corner of his mouth. Biyue Henry instantly stopped attacking and supported his friend.
Leng Youlan perceived the deep relationship between Biyue Henry and Haleigh Light. Regardless, her purpose was not here. “Enough,” she said coldly.
Haleigh, I’m sure you have your reasons, but please think it through.”
Haleigh’s expression softened slightly, but he stood firm. “It’s my choice,” he said resolutely.
Leng Youlan stepped forward, her voice firm yet pleading. “You can’t do this, Haleigh. She deserves a life away from pain.”
At this, Haleigh clenched his fists, his internal struggle evident. “Maybe you’re right, but I have my own battles to fight.”
Luisan looked between them, feeling the tension rise. “Please, let’s not make this harder than it needs to be.”
“Enough!” Haleigh shouted, causing both women to flinch. “You don’t understand what I’m going through!”
Leng Youlan took a deep breath, trying to maintain her composure. “You’re right, but that doesn’t mean you should take it out on her.”
Hays, who had been quietly observing, finally spoke up. “This isn’t the time for arguments. We need to find a solution.”
The group fell silent, each contemplating the weight of their decisions.
Haleigh Light, I will repay the harm I’ve done to you one day. Or if you have any requests, as long as they’re not too excessive, you can propose them.”
“Mr. Haleigh Light, Luisan is right. You can send someone with any requests. As long as they’re not too excessive, I will agree,” Leng Youlan said to Haleigh Light.
“Snow, Yan, take care of Luisan. Let’s go back now.”
“Yes.”
Luisan looked at Haleigh once and allowed Snow and Yan to support her. She felt immense pain.
Leng Youlan walked towards the car prepared outside. She said, “I advise you to quickly handle the person on the ground and not move rashly. Don’t you want to know how he died? What if I say the person who killed him is now aiming a gun at your heads?”
This statement made Haleigh Light stop all movement. Looking at Luisan’s departing figure, he felt a familiar pain gradually expanding.
Biyue Henry looked at his friend, worried about him offending that woman. But he never knew she had such capital. At the same time, he felt unusually dejected. This version of her made him even more attracted.
Biyue Henry turned to the shocked guests. “Today’s banquet ends here due to unexpected events. Everyone, please go home.”
“Please bring them to me,” Leng Youlan instructed.
“Yes, Miss.” Youlin hurried off to fulfill her request.
As Leng Youlan waited, her thoughts drifted back to Luisan and her feelings. She couldn’t shake off the notion that something was troubling her sister, and she was determined to find the truth behind it.
A few moments later, Youlin reappeared with the three servants in tow. “Miss, I’ve brought them,” she announced.
“Thank you, Youlin. You may leave now,” Leng Youlan said, her voice steady. Once alone with the servants, she studied their expressions closely. “I want to know everything about Lei Tianyi. Start talking.”
The servants exchanged glances, gauging whether to speak freely or hold back. The tension in the air was palpable as Leng Youlan maintained her composed demeanor, waiting for them to break the silence.
Eventually, one of the servants, a tall man with nervous eyes, stepped forward. “Miss, we’ve served him for several years, and he’s not who he seems. He can be… unpredictable.”
Leng Youlan raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “What do you mean?”
The servant hesitated before continuing. “He has dealings that may not be entirely legal. We’ve seen things we shouldn’t have.”
Leng Youlan’s curiosity deepened. She realized there was much more to uncover, and this revelation could impact everything she had planned.
