God’s Code

“Maybe you’ll need to rush; I’m arranging for some equipment to be brought in.” The next morning, when I arrived at the site, there were noticeably more archaeologists than in the previous days, gathered close to where the seawater receded, around a large newly exposed stone. I hurried over and saw it was a naturally rectangular boulder, and if I wasn’t mistaken, one side should bear a relief. The part of the stone previously buried in sand had been cleared, obviously to reveal the full content of the relief. This relief received such focused attention; its content must differ significantly from what I had seen earlier.

Jeni spotted me and greeted me; he was the archaeologist I met on my first visit here, and we had become quite familiar over my subsequent visits.

“Hey, I think you’ll be interested in this. It’s an astonishing discovery. It appears to be a set of reliefs depicting the daily life of a Brahman deity who descended upon a tribe. There are six in total. I think this might be one of the most significant archaeological finds in India this year, very valuable and quite mysterious,” Jenny said to me. This theist speaks of gods frequently, and the appearance of these reliefs made him very happy because they provide evidence for the existence of gods. I smiled at him, noting his mention of “very mysterious,” quickened my pace, and walked towards the sea-facing side, focusing my gaze on the reliefs.
