“A month of leave is actually not enough. After all, we’re going to get engaged and married together, and we have our honeymoon plans. Oh, I forgot to tell you, I’ve already booked the wedding photography studio. This afternoon we’ll first shoot indoor scenes, and next week during the Europe conference trip, we’ll supplement with outdoor shots…” Ye Lixie spoke in a fluent tone as if discussing work arrangements, interrupting the tiny bit of emotion welling up in Lin Weiwan’s heart with his “unromantic” approach.
“Are you proposing to me right now?” She slightly pulled away from him, feeling both joyful and sweet about the meaning of his words.
Had he finally spoken up to confirm their relationship after waiting so long?
In recent days, their interactions had been almost like a couple’s.
At work, she was his best work assistant. Back at the Ye family home, she occasionally helped Uncle Yan manage household affairs. During times when no outsiders were around, it was their sweetest moment together.
She liked letting him quietly embrace her from behind, and then the two would stand together by the floor-to-ceiling window in his study, looking at the city nightscape in the distance.
Though he wasn’t talkative, and his occasional work-related persistence and strictness sometimes made her unable to suppress her temper and argue with him, after spending a long time together, she knew his demands were just to make work more perfect. He wouldn’t indulge her willfulness during work hours. But when night came and they were alone, he would use irrelevant small talk to dissolve any small conflicts from the day with his unique humor. Her naturally optimistic personality also meant she would forget the previous day’s unpleasantness after a night’s rest.
After going through their adjustment period, now their feelings were inseparable, dense and impossible to dilute.
She looked at him with a slightly reproachful expression, using her eyes to hint that she hoped he could handle such a significant event as “proposing” more romantically. Unfortunately, he just raised an eyebrow with an expression that seemed to say, “What did you expect?”
“Have you ever seen someone propose with a work briefing tone?” she said, hands on her hips.
