She was crying softly, losing her noble demeanor as her tears ruined her delicate makeup. At this moment, Jing Xin was like a lifeline, and she held on tightly, believing only she could save her son’s life.

“Ji Xuan, I know you’re heartbroken. I understand, because I’ve been through such pain too.” Jing Xin remained a step away, speaking softly. She felt his pain, the loss of the one most loved, having just experienced such suffering herself.
The man on the bed recognized her voice and slightly turned his face towards her before shutting his eyes again.
Jing Xin breathed a sigh of relief. At least he didn’t chase her away like before, so she still had a chance to persuade him. “Ji Xuan, can I come closer?”
Her voice was as light as a willow leaf, carrying a hint of pain and hope.
The man on the bed remained silent.
After a moment, Jing Xin approached, pulling out the stool and sitting down. She noticed a crystal-clear tear at the corner of his eye, sliding down his cheek and disappearing into his black hair. Jing Xin felt her nose tingle as an uncontrollable flow of emotion welled up in her eyes.
After seeing the doctor off, everyone was exhausted. Gao Zhanpeng hugged his wife and walked out of the room. Under the strong insistence of the Gao family, Jing Xin stayed behind to accompany Gao Jixuan.
