He was strange today. Upon hearing her words, the first emotion that surfaced was not his hatred for the Gao family, but concern about her familiarity with Ji Xuan, to the point of calling him so intimately. His half-brother, seemingly favored since childhood, made Jiang Xiangyang’s brow furrow slightly.

His fist clenched at his side, and after a moment, he pressed a button on the dashboard, releasing the car door. The man’s dim eyes turned to Jing Xin, staring at her with a gaze that penetrated her bones. His eyes were as pale as moonlight yet as blazing as sunlight. An inexplicable heart-stirring sensation rose within her, and in a daze, Jing Xin seemed to see the deep loneliness hidden in the man’s heart.

Jiang Xiangyang lowered his eyes, tilting his chin in a silent gesture for her to get out. Jing Xin sat enchanted, staring blankly at him.

“Get out,” he said softly, pushing open the door beside her. The midsummer wind rushed in, carrying the humid air characteristic of a coastal city. Jing Xin looked again, but Jiang Xiangyang had already turned his head, a gray shadow cast on his face, his sharp features covered in frost.

Jing Xin sighed, ultimately saying nothing, and stepped out of the car.

The conspicuous Maybach sped onto the main road and quickly disappeared into the sea of cars, lost in the dazzling headlights.
