Lone Hawk

Jing Xin nodded and closed her eyes. She had been exhausted recently after Gao Jixuan rushed to the U.S. for business issues just days before Botian’s opening.

“I’m glad you woke up before dinner,” Gao Jixuan said.

“If you hadn’t woken me, I’d have thought we weren’t there yet and slept peacefully.” Jing Xin lifted the blanket, feeling somewhat annoyed, and carefully folded it before placing it on the back seat.

Gao Ji Xuan gently brushed her messy hair, his eyes filled with tenderness. He opened the car door, walked around, and helped her unbuckle her seatbelt. “It’s all my fault, don’t be angry. Let’s go down quickly. I’ve booked the hotel. We’ll enjoy some delicious food, shower, then go to the beach to see the stars. When you’re tired, we can eat some street food. How does that sound?”

“It sounds perfect, Ji Xuan. I didn’t know you were so good at traveling and making girls happy.”

Gao Ji Xuan smiled faintly, pulling her towards the hotel. In his heart, he thought, Fool, you don’t know that while you were sleeping, I was desperately searching online for travel guides. I booked the hotel in advance and packed your necessities, just to see you smile.

Jing Xin looked at the table full of seafood, surprised. “Ji Xuan, isn’t this too much for just the two of us?”

Gao Ji Xuan seated her and spread out her napkin. “You wanted a seafood feast. A full seafood feast comes with this many varieties. Want to try?”

He wasn’t usually someone who joked around; to his employees, he was an overly strict leader.

Gao Ji Xuan enjoyed teasing her, relishing the sight of her blushing cheeks and playful pouts. She was the kind of girl who might go unnoticed in a crowd, but those who knew her recognized her as a special flower among many, fresh and elegant with a subtle fragrance. She was like sunlight and air—ordinary yet impossible to resist.

Gao Ji Xuan took a sip of red wine and focused intently on Jing Xin, who was absorbed in cooking seafood.

After a moment, she noticed his unusual silence and looked up to meet his passionate gaze. His intensity took her by surprise, and she quickly averted her eyes.
