Lone Hawk

At nineteen, she felt like a gardenia flower kissed by morning dew, waiting for her destined one. Jing Xin wondered if Wang Luo Zhou was that person, although Jiang Xiang Yang’s figure often flashed through her mind, a spark she tried to extinguish. He couldn’t provide her with a peaceful life.

He was a man not content with mediocrity, with ambition revealing itself in his gaze.

Her mother-in-law’s words echoed in her ears. She admitted she wasn’t averse to spending her life with Jiang Xiang Yang, but how could such a wild man be her destined one? She sighed.

Even if she wanted to be with him, her mother would never agree to marrying a hoodlum, and her brother and sister-in-law would be even less likely to approve.

Fortunately, the neighbor auntie called her son Zhibin, who drove her to the hospital. Jing Xin clung to his back and softly asked, “Brother Zhibin, do you know what illness my mom has?”

“I don’t know either. It seems she had a conflict with your sister-in-law. Your family was arguing all day, and I went out in the afternoon. I just came back and don’t know what happened. Jing Xin, don’t worry; we’ll find out at the hospital. Your brother is there too.”

He didn’t see that Jing Xin behind him had turned pale, tears streaming down her face. She knew her mother wasn’t sick. How could she suddenly fall ill for no reason? Jing Xin felt suffocated, thinking it must be her sister-in-law causing trouble at home, making her mother so angry that she fell ill.

When they arrived at the hospital, Jing Xin rushed to the emergency room.

Her steps stopped when she passed by a person – her brother, crouching in a dark corner of the emergency room hall, his body trembling.

“Brother, what are you doing here? Where’s Mom?” Jing Xin asked, her voice trembling.

He looked up, his face smeared with tears. When he saw his sister, he collapsed to the ground, hitting his head: “I’m not human, I’m an animal. Mom committed suicide by drinking pesticide. Jing Xin, Mom is dead.”

He was incoherent, repeating his distress.

Her heart sank. Jing Xin stared at him blankly, unable to shed a tear.
