As the darkness lifted from his face, Jiang Xiangyang recognized him: Li Laoda from the Qing Yang Gang, whom he had defeated at the gambling den months ago. Despite Three Treasures’ advice, he had released him, even after Li Laoda begged for mercy in front of the elders.
Li Erwind approached Jiang Xiangyang with his gun, laughing coldly: “I thought you were smart and lucky. Seems luck only favored you once. Don’t think winning at my gambling den means you can handle me. You’re too young and naive. You spared me, thinking it was mercy, never considering I might kill you. I am not one to easily let go.”
Shouting manically, he added, “Today is your death day. Blame your kindness, your self-righteousness, your stupidity.”
Jiang Xiangyang shielded the stunned Jing Xin behind him, his calm demeanor showing no panic or fear. Inwardly, he mocked the man who hesitates before killing.
A cold smile spread across his lips: “Li Erwind, who lives or dies isn’t decided until the end. Let’s gamble again. If you lose, I’ll buy you a grave. You can choose the location.”
Li Erwind, whether stunned or composed, screamed: “Jiang Xiangyang, die!” His gun fired, but something faster shot toward him.
Behind him, Jing Xin, paralyzed with fear, thought only that she didn’t want him to die, didn’t want the bullet to hit him.
A figure suddenly flashed from behind, tightly embracing Jiang Xiangyang, who had no time to think. In the next moment, he rolled to the ground, pinning her underneath.
The bullet grazed her shoulder, leaving a burnt smell.
Jiang Xiangyang quickly lifted himself, checking the woman beneath him. Fortunately, the bullet had only torn her clothing and not wounded her. He breathed a sigh of relief.
Rage boiled in his heart. He wanted to scold her, to beat her severely, but could only stare at her blankly, unable to utter a reproachful word.
His throat trembled, his chest heaving heavily. This woman had once again stunned him by foolishly shielding him from the bullet. She had disregarded her own life. Was such a woman a blessing or a curse to Jiang Xiangyang?
