Wang Luozhou laid his head on her shoulder, murmuring: “Jing Xin, I don’t care if you like me now. Give me time. I’ll definitely make you love me.”

“But, Wang Luozhou, I already have someone I love. I’m about to get married. We’re impossible,” Jing Xin said softly.

Wang Luozhou was clearly stunned. “Jing Xin, how is that possible? You’re so young. How could you get married?” He believed this was just an excuse.

“Wang Luozhou, let me go. We can’t be. I already have someone I love,” she struggled again.

He was Wang Luozhou—he could have anything he desired. Yet, disappointment surrounded him. He didn’t want to lose Jing Xin.

From the first moment he saw her in the library, bending over a bookshelf, her long black hair hung down. For reasons he couldn’t explain, her silhouette felt serene. He was close enough to see her long, dense eyelashes, intricately woven like small fans.

Moments later, she pulled a book from the shelf, a slight satisfied smile curving her lips.

Wang Luozhou felt his heart skip a beat as she walked towards a nearby desk, passing by him and stirring the air, a faint gardenia fragrance permeating his senses. He felt his face turn red.

That afternoon, he couldn’t read a single word, his gaze constantly drifting in her direction. She remained unaware, immersed in her book. Wang Luozhou found her serious demeanor captivating.

He fell under Jing Xin’s spell—inquiring about her name, understanding her preferences, silently following her with his eyes. However, when he finally mustered the courage to pursue her, she said she had fallen for someone else.

Unwilling to accept this, her words destroyed his hopes. Wang Luozhou suddenly lowered his head and kissed her. Jing Xin was stunned and struggled forcefully.

Wang Luozhou held Jing Xin tightly as he kissed her desperately, tasting blood in his mouth. His heart was filled with despair; letting her go felt like losing her forever. Love was not what he had imagined; he believed that merely seeing her from afar would suffice. Yet, his love had transformed into an all-consuming obsession. The thought of her loving someone else stripped him of reason, and he couldn’t bear to let her go, unaware that he was hurting her.
