Lost Youth – When Love Lies

Yue Luo watched them walk away arm in arm. Her previous thoughts were wrong. Fang Yuzhe was not someone who was ostracized.

He had many friends, was liked by many people, and was quite capable – definitely not someone she could befriend. But she still believed he was different from others. Otherwise, why was he the only one who stood up when so many people were watching?

When Summer Da Hao came to pick her up in the evening, he asked his usual questions: “How was your day?” “Did you make any new friends?”

“Dad, I’m not adapting to the studies here. I want to transfer back to my original school.” Yue Luo didn’t want to stay. Her dream was to get into university, but the students here didn’t study at all, and the teachers didn’t teach properly, only covering superficial topics. If this continued, she would only be able to get into the worst vocational school, and her life would be over.

Summer Da Hao looked surprised. “How can you want to go back after just two days? You need to adapt slowly. The conditions in the countryside aren’t good. How can a small town’s high school compare to this private high school? Yue Luo, you don’t know how expensive the tuition is here—”

“Dad, I don’t need such a good high school. Can you save the money and use it for Mom’s medical treatment? This way, I can study with peace of mind, and Mom’s illness won’t be delayed.”

Summer Da Hao coughed awkwardly. “Well, Yue Luo, your mother’s illness isn’t urgent. Besides, Dad is having some business problems and can’t immediately come up with so much money.”

Yue Luo turned away, heartbroken. How could an illness not be urgent? Her mother had probably already known he wouldn’t easily give her the money.

“Dad, can I at least change to a regular high school? There are ordinary high schools, right?”

“Absolutely not!” Summer Da Hao rejected her immediately. “I’m a wealthy man now. Children of wealthy families all study in this school. Otherwise, it would be embarrassing for me to explain!”

He couldn’t even come up with thirty thousand yuan but wanted to show off by sending his daughter to an elite school. Yue Luo thought her father was incredibly vain.
