Lost Youth – When Love Lies

Fang Yuzhe’s world was not short of women, but love was rare. Having finally met someone who made his heart flutter, he naturally had to be serious!

So early the next morning, he specially ran to a cake shop and bought an exquisite triangular strawberry cream pastry – don’t all girls love such childish things!

Carrying the pastry, he brazenly entered Class 2-7.

  • but she wasn’t there.

Almost class time, and this girl was actually late!

After the first class, Fang Yuzhe came again, still not there. What was going on!

Until noon after lunch, he was about to skip class and go to Xia Yuoluo’s home when the girl finally came running through the school gate.

“Standing me up on the first day, what are you up to!” Fang Yuzhe complained while extending his hand to help her carry her books.

“Sorry, my aunt wasn’t feeling well, so I accompanied her to the hospital,” Yuoluo said, out of breath.

“Where’s your dad? Isn’t there a housekeeper?”

“She insisted I accompany her. I haven’t even asked the teacher for leave yet!”

Fang Yuzhe angrily grabbed her, “Come with me to buy a phone tonight, and next time you must ask my permission first!”

The next day, Xia Yu Luo went to school listlessly. Just as she turned the street corner, someone whistled behind her. Looking back, Fang Yu Zhe was sitting on the roadside guardrail waiting for her.

“What’s wrong?

Did you have a nightmare again?” Yu Luo’s eyes were swollen.

“Don’t ask,” Xia Yu Luo had no mood at all.

“Were you abused by your stepmother?”

“No!”

“As if! A good horse gets ridden, and a good person gets bullied! Let me avenge you—”

“No! Please, Fang Yu Zhe, don’t mess around. Do you really want me to end up on the streets!”

“Impossible. If you’re really kicked out, one phone call and I’ll immediately pick you up!” He handed Yu Luo a small box. “Take this, keep it on 24 hours. I want to talk to you at night.”

He had finally bought a phone. “I don’t want it!”

“Who said it’s for you? This is my communication tool, I’m lending it to you!”

Another “Bastard”

Xia Yu Luo never thought that Fang Yu Zhe would be so passionate about love. Thankfully his intensity kept her from freezing.

Xia Da Hao’s apology was probably not good, so his wife’s disgust for Yu Luo grew daily. Every time Yu Luo entered the house, she felt like she’d entered hell, enduring until 10 PM when she’d return to her room and message Fang Yu Zhe, which would slightly improve her mood.

During that period, Fang Yu Zhe was completely Yu Luo’s spiritual support. Without him, her world would be dark and boundless.

Counting the days, she finally got through a month and waited for Xia Da Hao to return.

Yu Luo thought she could have a few peaceful days, but on the first day her father returned home, he had a huge fight with his stepmother. They argued tremendously.

Yu Luo messaged Fang Yu Zhe: I really want to move to the moon.

Fang Yu Zhe replied: Hehe, then the moon would truly have Chang’e.

The argument continued for several days before Yu Luo understood what happened: her father actually had a nine-year-old son outside, and the son’s mother wanted to get married and leave the child with him!

If Ma Jiao could swallow this, she wouldn’t be Ma Jiao. She pointed at her husband’s nose and shouted: “Listen, Xia Da Hao, don’t even think about driving me away, and don’t think about letting that little bastard in! I’ve already raised one for you, and now you’re endless!”

Having caused trouble in the past, Xia Da Hao had no choice. He didn’t want the child, but seeing the small face so similar to his own, his heart softened.

“Just this one, isn’t that enough?”

“No! You haven’t earned much money, but bastards keep appearing. If I agree this time, next time three or five might pop up!”

Yu Luo wanted to tell her that pregnancy shouldn’t cause anger, but hearing her repeatedly say “bastard,” she couldn’t find compassion for the child!

Before resolving the argument with his wife, Xia Da Hao didn’t dare bring the child home. But the child’s mother, eager to get married, brought her son to their doorstep.

The Consequences of Kindness

Yu Luo’s family villa wasn’t a high-end villa, just a not-so-good area densely packed with two-story buildings. The house was rough, completely unlike wealthy homes with front and back gardens.

Xia Da Hao’s mistress arrived with her child. Ma Jiao cursed loudly through the gate. After getting tired, she would go drink water and rest, then come back to continue cursing, refusing to open the door. Eventually, tired of standing, she threw her son by the door and left.

When Yu Luo finished school and parted with Fang Yu Zhe at the street corner, she saw a little boy crying at the doorstep.

Being as kind-hearted as she was, she approached and asked, “Little brother, what’s wrong?”

The boy blinked his big watery eyes and sobbed, “I’m looking for my dad.”

“Where is your dad?”

He raised his small hand and pointed to her house, “Dad is inside.”

Yu Luo understood. This was her father’s other “bastard”. The child was so small, and night was falling. What if something happened to him outside?

“Where’s your mom?”

“Mom doesn’t want me anymore!” The boy’s tears fell continuously.

Yu Luo’s nose felt sour. Feeling somewhat sympathetic, she took out her key and opened the door, hugging his shoulders. “Come in with sister.”

Xia Da Hao wasn’t home.

Ma Jiao, hearing from the servant that the woman had left, was drinking water on the sofa. She never expected to see Yu Luo enter silently with the person she had refused at the door!

“Xia Yu Luo!” Ma Jiao jumped from the sofa, rushing to the door, “Who let you bring him in!”

Yu Luo was frightened, and the little boy immediately hid behind her.

“Auntie, her mother is gone, I’m afraid of him—”

“What are you afraid of! You ungrateful little bastard, I’m disgusted just raising you, and you dare to bring someone back! Get out, both of you!” She pushed them out without hesitation.

Ma Jiao was cursing and pushing the two people who just entered. The little guy wasn’t as weak as Yu Luo. He had just heard her viciously insulting his mother, and now he finally had a chance for revenge. He rushed in front of Ma Jiao, kicking her leg.

Ma Jiao was bare-legged, and the little guy was wearing hard travel shoes. The nine-year-old boy kicked her, causing Ma Jiao to scream and crouch down. Yuluo saw trouble and pulled her brother, running away.

“Why did you hit her!” Xia Yuluo was a bit angry.

“She insulted my mom and called me a bastard!”

Xia Yuluo had nothing to say. She really did curse terribly!

“What do we do now, we can’t go back!” She had nowhere to go, so she could only wander with the boy, waiting for Xia Dahao to come home.

“What’s your name?” Yuluo asked him.

“I’m Xia Xiaohao.”

Xia Xiaohao tightly held Yuluo’s hand, afraid she would abandon him too. Xia Yuluo didn’t know if her father was deliberately avoiding coming home. It was almost nine o’clock, and there was still no sign of him!

By ten o’clock, Xia Xiaohao couldn’t hold on anymore. “Sister, I’m tired. I’m hungry.”

Unfortunately, Xia Yuluo had forgotten to check her pockets that morning and had no money. She looked desperately at their door, then at the little burden, and pulled out her phone to call Fang Yuzhe.

“You’re still out so late! Wait for me at your door!” Fang Yuzhe hurriedly hung up and soon appeared in front of Xia Yuluo, indeed driving his BMW.

“You’re the one being dramatic. It’s already ten!”

“My dad probably won’t come home tonight. We’ve both been kicked out.”

Fang Yuzhe looked at Xia Xiaohao and laughed, “Is this your brother?”

“You’re still joking when I’m in such a mess!”

He laughed and put his arm around her shoulder. “Okay, no more jokes. Get in the car!”
