One Wife, Multiple Husbands – Part Two

"Dad, I've told you so many times not to come pick me up. Why won't you listen? Why did you come out in the rain?" The elder brother stood up from his chair, passing through my transparent shadow, and walked towards Father.

"Hehe, we have a car at home, it's no trouble at all."

The elder brother packed up, grabbed a small file bag, and left the office with Father.

Ye Hui looked at the two people closest to her and suddenly felt an overwhelming emptiness. She didn't want to go back with them; that home no longer had a place for her. The girl who had replaced her name would do better, would fulfill the responsibilities of a daughter.

Ye Hui floated out the window onto the street. The rain had stopped at some point, leaving a fresh scent in the air.

She sat on a palm tree branch, overlooking the street with flickering neon lights and young couples walking arm in arm. Slowly, she fell into contemplation, wondering what had happened to her - her death two years ago, traveling to ancient times, first awakening in a newlywed's chamber, her soul entering the bride's body, and waking to find a tall, handsome man entering...

That man seemed familiar. What was his name? She furrowed her brow, but couldn't recall.

Heh! A sprite sat on the electrical wire a meter away. She would call it a sprite because she truly didn't know what species it was - not quite human, not quite animal.

The sprite laughed with a sneer. Ye Hui, interrupted in her thoughts, looked at it angrily: "What are you laughing at?"

"I'm laughing at why you're not hurrying back to your ancient family. Your husband and friends are anxiously waiting for you, yet you sit here in a daze. In human terms, you're an idiot."

"Ancient times?" Ye Hui's mind flashed momentarily, seeming to remember, but then it blurred. She stared at the sprite: "I don't understand what you're saying."

"Then let me tell you some names: Qin Yuhang, Huangfu Zeduan, Li Weichen, Mo Qi, Prince Huangfu Rui, King Huangfu Jian, and a baby connected to you by blood, called Huangfu Hengting." The sprite sneered, but its gray-bright eyes held a hint of compassion.

Ye Hui was completely stunned. Everything from the Ying Tang Kingdom suddenly rushed into her mind like a tide - Qin Yuhang's endless love, Huangfu Zeduan's domineering affection, Li Weichen's gentleness, Mo Qi's unwavering loyalty, the two guards' faithful protection, the pure face of her beloved son - all flashing like a projector.

The sprite continued: "You were drugged with Meng Shi's potion. I'm here to wake you up. Relying on those brainless people in the Prince's palace, I'm afraid you'll only have half a life left even if you return."

"Who are you?" Ye Hui raised her puzzled eyes: "I don't remember knowing you. If you're from that era, why don't I have any impression of you?"

"You saved my life," the sprite stood up from the electrical wire, with a body somewhat like an animal and somewhat like a ghost shadow, jumping to the palm tree branch.

"I don't remember saving anyone, especially not a non-human species," Ye Hui moved aside, strange that she wasn't afraid of it.

"How is that possible? Didn't you save a black wolf?" The sprite grabbed her arm and flew towards the end of the night sky, glancing at her: "Now let's return to Ying Tang Kingdom. The round trip will take some time. I hope those stupid humans don't cause any deaths."

"Why would they cause deaths?" Ye Hui was involuntarily pulled along: "Hey, you're not telling me you're that black wolf caught in the trap?"

The sprite didn't answer, continuing to pull her along.

"Why aren't you talking? In this form, are you dead or just out of body?"

No matter how she tried to probe, it remained silent. Soon, they entered a colorful tunnel...

Have this serious! Ye Huixin’s thoughts became heavy, and suddenly a sharp pain swept through her brain, as if it was tearing her in half. “Ah!” she screamed, hugging her head, her body convulsing like she had epilepsy.
