Chapter 1 – Switzerland, University of Bern

On a leisurely afternoon, three girls of different nationalities gathered under a tree’s shade, chatting and studying.

“Ah…” a brunette girl sitting on the grass let out a big yawn. Her name was Mina, a classmate and roommate of Androlly.

“It’s such a nice day, yet you’re yawning so much,” the Taiwanese girl, Xu Aier, couldn’t help but tease her.

“The weather is indeed quite nice,” Androlly, who was sitting at a small stone table and writing furiously, also chimed in.

This country was covered in ice and snow during autumn and winter, with temperatures rising only in summer, barely reaching around twenty degrees. But for the cold-resistant Swiss, this was already considered a sunny day.

“These annoying graduation exams – if it weren’t for the test, I’d be out driving with Chuck right now,” Mina pouted, her face full of unwillingness.

“Mina, if I’m not mistaken, you’re about to fail ‘Economic Development History’ – the professor says this is your last chance at the final exam,” Androlly reminded her.

Androlly was a typical Western girl, having grown up in Europe. Her nationality was Monaco. Because her parents were stationed at the Swiss embassy, she had moved to Switzerland with her parents at fourteen. Four years ago, she entered the university’s humanities department with excellent grades, and eight years had already passed.

She heard that next month the government would recall her parents and intended to give her father an important diplomatic position.

She was happy about her father’s promotion, and with graduation approaching, she was glad to return to her country to work and serve.

“Right, once you graduate, you can go back to Canada with Chuck, and then you can do whatever you want,” Xu Aier said in fluent German, giggling.

In Switzerland, French and German were commonly spoken. When the three were together privately, they chose German as their communication tool, especially Androlly, who had received rigorous language education and could speak five languages fluently.

“Whenever I think about my future with Chuck, I get frustrated. My parents don’t approve of me going to Canada with him,” Mina sighed, thinking about her complicated romantic situation.

“Mina, honestly, if you don’t go with him, a long-distance relationship will be very difficult to maintain,” Androlly said seriously while taking notes.

“I know, but—” Mina looked troubled.

“Alright, focus on passing the graduation exam first. Your relationship has plenty of time,” Xu Aier was a practical person who believed the immediate task was most important.

Indeed, the most important thing now was to do well on the graduation exam.

However, Mina’s mind was full of Chuck’s image, and whenever she thought of him, she couldn’t help but glance at Androlly, who was drawing economic trend charts.

Androlly was beautifully elegant, with a slender figure, long, shiny black hair, and Western facial features that were bright and striking. Yet her facial lines were soft, reportedly due to ancestors from several generations back who had married someone of Eastern descent, giving her face a hint of Eastern charm.

Initially, Chuck had wanted to pursue Androlly, but after being rejected several times, he found he got along well with Mina and changed his target. Although this had happened long ago, Mina would still feel jealous whenever she thought about it…

Sitting in a top-tier luxury SUV, Hano Zeji admired the beautiful Swiss scenery along the way.

It had been half a year since his last visit to Europe. He remembered that previous trip was for a watch mechanism investment introduction project, when he had stayed for only four short days before returning to Japan to prepare for the Taiwan BOT project.

This time coming to Europe was part of his itinerary. This car fleet was something he had taken over along with part of the Hano Group’s affairs when he was twenty years old. Initially, he only wanted to understand the fleet’s racing process and operational methods, but unexpectedly, he found himself deeply immersed in the racing world, unable to extricate himself.

Just as his thoughts were wandering, the car had already stopped in front of a five-star hotel.

After getting out of the car, several hotel security personnel quickly surrounded him, guiding Hano Zeji through a secret passage at the back of the hotel, taking a VIP-exclusive elevator directly to the presidential suite.

“Hey! Hano, how’s it going? Didn’t run into those pesky reporters, right?” Gullian walked out of his suite, laughing and patting his shoulder.

Nominally, they were in a principal-employee relationship, but privately, they also had a good friendship.

“Fortunately, the airport and hotel were willing to lend their private passages, otherwise I’d probably still be stuck at the airport.”

“This year’s tour has been very successful. We’ve been unstoppable from Shanghai, Tokyo, Bangkok, Atlanta, to Germany. I believe at this stop in Switzerland and the final stop in Monaco, you’ll definitely have an even more outstanding performance.”

“Whether I can win this race isn’t important. If we can use this race to make the Hano Group’s name even more renowned, then we’ll have succeeded,” Hano Zeji took off his casual jacket, and his well-fitted T-shirt accentuated his muscular chest.

Gullian narrowed his eyes. He had coached over a hundred racers, and it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Hano Zeji was the most talented and handsome racing driver he had ever seen.

In recent years, Hano Zeji had created brilliant achievements on the racing track. Several times, Gullian had wanted to persuade him to become a full-time racer, but thinking about the tens of thousands of Hano Group employees who depended on Hano Zeji, Gullian had to suppress his personal desires.

“But your driving skills are truly remarkable. You’ve been in the top three in the world tour for two consecutive years, and this year you’re the most anticipated champion candidate.”

“The race will be held at the venue in Bern this weekend. When are we going to do a site survey?” Hano Zeji asked.

“The racing track will be open to us this evening.”

“Tell the other drivers to stay focused and rest well tonight, preparing for the wonderful battle this weekend.”

Andolie came out of the supermarket carrying a bunch of things, with bags of various sizes blocking her view. Only after loading everything into the car did she let out a sigh of relief.

Today was the day her graduation exam ended. Since she still had to stay in the dormitory for some time, and Mina had to make up for other subjects, the supermarket shopping was done by her alone.

Starting the car, she drove out of the supermarket parking lot onto the main road.

This sports car performed excellently – a birthday gift from her father when she turned eighteen.

She casually turned on the car’s radio, and while adjusting the broadcast channel, she suddenly noticed a small van in her rearview mirror.

Andolie narrowed her eyes and frowned because the small van was consistently trailing her at a distance of one meter.

Andolie was no stranger to such vans; she knew she had been targeted by paparazzi.

To shake off the paparazzi’s pursuit, Andolie pressed the accelerator hard and sped up.

They chased from the supermarket all the way to an empty lot near the racing track. In her panic, Andolie’s car accidentally scraped against the stone wall surrounding the track.

The violent impact made her feel a sharp pain in her arm.

“What exactly do you want?” Andolie angrily got out of the car and shouted at them.

“Andolie, we’re reporters from the Sun Times,” three men with cameras got out of the car.
