Please Be My Princess – Part Two

Just as Mei Yu was about to rush in, the surgery room door opened. The chief physician removed his mask, wiped sweat from his forehead, caught his breath, and told the already panic-stricken Mei Yu, “She’s alive, now out of critical danger. She just lost a lot of blood and is still unconscious.” The doctor smiled at Mei Yu and placed a hand on her trembling shoulders in congratulation.

Mei Yu was stunned. Her mother had actually survived. The nurses were already wheeling her mother out of the surgery room to the special care unit for observation and treatment.

Mei Yu followed the hospital bed, bent over, her face twitching, wiping away tears, smiling happily at her mother, though her smile was full of tears. These were tears that only those who have truly experienced life and death are qualified to have. Mei Yu followed the moving hospital bed, accompanying her mother towards the intensive care unit.

Left in the corridor were the emergency doctors and nurses standing at the operating room door, continuously exclaiming to those around them, “It’s simply unbelievable. She lost so much blood, yet she survived. Moreover, during the rescue, she was able to speak while unconscious. I heard something like, Mei… Yu… Yes, Mei Yu. Probably her daughter’s name.”

Later, this event reached the hospital director’s ears. He found Mei Yu in her mother’s hospital room, expressing sympathy for Mei Yu and her mother’s situation, and offering free treatment for Mei Yu’s mother. However, the condition was that Mei Yu agree to let the hospital use their case as a promotional example, publicizing the hospital’s medical skills and a certain kind of love’s power. In truth, those talks about love were just empty words; the director wanted to use this incident to raise the hospital’s reputation.

Mei Yu considered that the hospital was using this event to build its brand and wouldn’t harm her mother. Moreover, she deeply understood the power of love and hoped to spread awareness, helping more people escape death’s door. Besides, the high medical expenses were something she couldn’t afford, so she agreed to the director’s proposal.

After careful treatment by the hospital, one morning Mei Yu’s mother finally awakened, opening her eyes.
