Reborn as the Wind

“You want to escape me and go back to her? It’s impossible. Absolutely impossible.”

She laughed manically. “Ning Yuan, in this lifetime, you will never reconnect with her again.”

Ning Yuan lowered his head, hiding his desolate eyes.

Ru Feng stood on tiptoe, trying to reach the top shelf of the bookcase but always falling short. Just as she struggled, a hand appeared at her waist, and another hand retrieved the book.

“Second brother!” She looked up at him, her eyes smiling.

His handsome face was filled with a brilliant smile, a brightness that Situ Qi Feng had never shown before. “Shorty! Can’t even get a book?”

Ru Feng instantly jumped up in annoyance.

“Ah!” Qi Feng exclaimed, stepping back several paces.

Ru Feng glared at him, then rubbed her head. “Dare to call me short again, and you’ll get an iron head attack.”

Qi Feng exhaled and came closer, patting her head. “Did you hurt yourself?”

“It hurts, but your chin should hurt more!”

“You…” Qi Feng’s tone was helplessly doting as he glanced at the book in her hand. “What are you reading?”

“Looking for a way to resolve your backlash!” she replied, dropping her casual expression. “Can’t let you suffer every night! Already plagued by nightmares and now burning flames. Do you think heaven doesn’t want you to rest at night?”

Hey, second brother, if we can’t find a solution, should we go somewhere with only daytime and no night?”

Qi Feng’s heart warmed as he hugged her from behind and rested his head on her shoulder. “No need, just you being with me is enough.”

Ru Feng leaned forward slightly, tilting her head to ask, “When you hold me, does it feel relieving?”

“Mm!” Qi Feng nodded, resting again on her shoulder.

Ru Feng held the book, deep in thought. It seemed her initial guess was correct; she was indeed the cause. Now the problem was how to resolve this effect.

“I’m going on a business trip in a couple of days. Want to come with me?” Qi Feng asked.

She came back to her senses. “How many days are you going?”

“Don’t you want to go?” Qi Feng countered.

Ru Feng frowned. “Are you staying overnight?”

Qi Feng paused before saying, “No, I’ll come back at night.”

Ru Feng pushed him playfully. “Just one day, do I need to accompany you?”

Qi Feng smiled, leaning on her shoulder and silently watching her focus on the book.

“How should we resolve this?” She bit her pen. “Use my blood?”

Qi Feng was stunned, but she quickly rejected the idea. “This is Qiu Ru Feng’s body, obviously not.”

“When you hold me, I feel cooler.”

So maybe if I transfer the fire from your body to mine?” She muttered, then asked, “Second brother, can you do that?”

“No.” He truly couldn’t, and even if he could, he wouldn’t. Burning on her, pain in his heart, he’d rather keep things as they were.

“Then what else can we do?” Suddenly realizing something, she turned around, cupping Qi Feng’s face, her eyes bright.

“What… what?” Qi Feng was bewildered.

“Second brother, let’s kiss again!” Her gaze was intense.

Qi Feng looked up, stared at her for a moment, smiled, and leaned in. “Okay!” The ending disappeared between their lips.

Ru Feng’s eyes widened. She meant just a kiss.

But now? Qi Feng wrapped one arm around her waist, the other hand holding the back of her head. His lips pressed against hers with urgency.

“Second…” She tried to speak, but his tongue invaded with gentle force.

It was too sweet a sensation. Qi Feng closed his eyes, holding her tightly.

On the face close at hand, his eyelashes trembled lightly, a tremor that seemed to emanate from their skin’s contact. Ru Feng slowly closed her eyes, feeling his intense quest and heartbreaking tenderness. His hand rested against her waist, gently gripping her clothes, gradually tightening.

Until both were breathless, Qifeng loosened his grip, his kiss sliding to her ear, “I’ll listen to you.”

Ru Feng’s face was red, her heart pounding with shyness, “I meant just a light kiss.”

“I only kissed once.”

Ru Feng was speechless.

“Wind’er?” His breath was unsteady against her ear.

“What?” She was grateful to be pressed against him, hiding her burning face.

“Can I kiss you again?”

Her face heated up. “No, not even once.”

“Hmm!” Qifeng cupped her face, his eyes bright.

She was somewhat stunned by his charm.

“I think one kiss isn’t good, so let’s make it two,” he said, kissing her lips.

Joy overflowed in him; he had heard her – she wouldn’t let him go!

Eventually, Qifeng held her in his arms, his head buried in her shoulder.

Ru Feng didn’t dare move, trying to ignore his body’s changes. “Second Brother, won’t you let me go?”

“No!” His voice was muffled.

“But isn’t this uncomfortable?”

“No.” He was reluctant to let go.

Fine, if he could endure it, she’d let him hug her.

After a while, Ru Feng remembered her question, “Second Brother, did you feel cool when you kissed me?”

Qifeng’s hand tightened, “Hot!” he grit out.

“Ah?” Ru Feng lifted her head, “But when you were feverish at night, you said it felt cool, right?” She wondered if her kiss had made things worse when he was already hot.

Qifeng trembled at her movement. After a moment, he exhaled, “That time it felt pleasantly cool; it’s different now.”

“Am I some kind of winter-warm, summer-cool person?” Ru Feng asked, puzzled.

Qifeng pressed her head back to his chest, “Don’t know, I just like it.” He curved his lips.

Qi Feng then said, “I haven’t spent any money on her.” The necklace she had was from his older brother, and the clothes she brought back were sponsored.

Mother Qiu’s expression changed several times, darkening.

“But,” he continued, “Feng’er knows my bank account and password. All my valuables, securities, cards, and personal seals are in a safe deposit box with a password set by Feng’er. She can freely move the assets under my name, and there’s a written commitment at the investment advisor’s office.”

Mother Qiu was completely stunned. Qi Feng frowned, pondering if there was anything else.

Mother Qiu walked back in a daze, still puzzled about where Xiao Feng had found this person.

That night, Ru Feng stayed at the cake shop, not returning home. Her second brother informed their father and older brother about her decision. Their father remained silent, while her older brother asked, “Is it because of Sui Feng?”

Ru Feng clarified, “No, it’s because second brother has an early business trip tomorrow, and the shop will be open late.”

Her older brother sighed, “Silly girl, not expressing your grievances will only hurt you in the end.”

Ru Feng responded playfully, “Who told me I have two super invincible, all-capable brothers!”

Her older brother hesitated, recalling their earlier conversation, “Feng’er, you and second brother…” Uncertain, he wondered if her firm statement about not letting go was for Sui Feng’s benefit or genuinely meant something. She envisioned her second brother’s joyful expression and smiled, “Big brother, I want to be with second brother for a lifetime!”

Her older brother, startled, held the phone tightly. Taking a deep breath, he asked, “Feng’er, is this love?”

Was it love? In that moment, she wasn’t sure.

But I want to be with him; I don’t want to see him in pain or lonely. When we’re apart, I miss him, and when we’re together, I don’t want to separate. When he kisses me, it feels like my heart is about to jump out.

She sighed softly, “Falling in love with him as a man isn’t difficult at all!”

Ying Feng was at a loss for words. He had always known about his brother’s feelings; after all, Feng’er was his entire emotional world. But he never expected her to start thinking in this direction.

“Will Dad agree?” he wondered.

“If I like him, he will,” she believed, confident in her father’s doting nature. Moreover, his previous words seemed to hint at his support.
