Reborn as the Wind

Gently placing Ru Feng on the bed, Qi Feng half-crouched, waiting for her to get comfortable. After ensuring she was soundly asleep, he carefully covered her with a blanket.

To avoid waking her, he didn’t turn on the light, but the faint moonlight revealed her furrowed brow. He gently smoothed her brow, whispering, “Silly girl!” He longed for her to be happy and carefree.

“If it were me, could I preserve your laughter forever?” he thought, leaning down to kiss her forehead.

The next morning at the cake shop, Ru Feng found Qiu Chi already there, looking terrible. “Qiu Ru Feng, I thought you cared about this cake shop?” he said.

Ru Feng was stunned as he continued, “It seems I was wrong. You need to accompany your fiancé every day. This shop, whether good or bad, isn’t something you care about, right?”

“No, I definitely care,” she replied.

Qiu Chi scoffed, “Since this shop opened, how much time and effort have you put into it?”

Ru Feng bit her lip, saying nothing. A series of unexpected events had indeed prevented her from fully dedicating herself.

Seeing her expression, Qiu Chi’s face softened slightly. He dropped a stack of materials on the table, “These are the promotion plans I compiled with Master Jiang. Master Jiang is responsible for new cake designs, and I drafted a proposal. This new shop needs to build its reputation.”

Ru Feng stared at him for a moment, then smiled. She organized the materials, took out Master Jiang’s part, and pushed the rest back to Qiu Chi, “Thank you, but I can’t accept.”

Qiu Chi looked up, “Because of Situ Qi Feng?”

Ru Feng shook her head, “This has nothing to do with him. The hardest debt to repay is a human favor. I don’t want to owe you.”

Qiu Chi studied her for a while, “I don’t need you to repay.”
