The Abyss

Honestly, she had no concept of this younger brother; they had only met a couple of days ago, and whether they shared blood was beyond her consideration. He was essentially a stranger, just sharing the same mother by chance. “Sister,” he suddenly reached to pinch her ear, gently. She immediately got goosebumps, a nearly instinctive reaction whenever a man got close, regardless of whether he was family or a stranger, old or young. “Sometimes, I think you’re a pitiful person, lacking family affection, watching us with envy. But at other times, I feel you’re completely empty, as if you don’t really want to join the crowd. What kind of person are you, really?” He leaned in, whispering the question. This posture had gone beyond sibling boundaries; he was almost pinning her against the wall to ask. Dong Qin stared at his beautifully curved lips for a long while before softly replying, “I don’t know, whatever you think I am, I am.” Lu Tuo smiled, fully aware of how attractive his smile was, carrying an innocence and a hint of allure. He was a master at smiling.

“Sister, in Italy, when a man fancies a woman, he will pursue her without hesitation. I used to think that was rude, but now…” He lowered his head, moving closer, his hot breath brushing against her face. Dong Qin watched his long eyelashes approach, and when she wanted to retreat, the wall was behind her. She had nowhere to escape. So, she simply faced him, waiting for him to act. Lu Tuo suddenly stopped, their lips almost touching. They locked eyes, neither backing down.

“Tuo! Your father is calling for you! Some uncles want to meet you.” Zuo Shao Qin’s voice came from the front. Lu Tuo abruptly let her go, smiled at her, and then pulled the lily from behind her ear, placing it in his chest pocket. “Such a pity, right?” he whispered, touching her chin before turning to leave.

Dong Qin placed her hand over her chest, her heart almost leaping out. Lu Tuo, what exactly are you trying to do? Calling me sister yet making moves beyond sibling affection. Is it that for men, any beautiful woman, regardless of who she is, ignites desire? She didn’t understand; her moral compass had long since shattered. No one had taught her that besides going to bed, there were other ways to communicate with men. She quietly watched the radiant Zuo Shao Qin in the distance. That woman’s blood ran through her veins, wild, seductive, filled with desire, and devoid of shame. She then thought of Zuo Shao An, her father, whose blood was hot, absolute, indiscriminate, and hysterical. For sixteen years, all they taught her was betrayal. She let out a soft laugh, pouring the sweet wine from her glass onto the floor. The blood of a beast surged within her; perhaps she was never human, just a mad female beast. The Zuo family, they are all lunatics.
