The Duke’s Affair – Part Two [Complited]

When the floor around Dean and Simon Xu was littered with cigarette butts, the red light above the door went out… the medical team wheeled Ye Ye out of the emergency room… Dean stepped forward, seeing Ye Ye still unconscious—but alive, that was enough! He breathed a sigh of relief… tightly gripping her right hand, looking at her pale sleeping face, he said nothing… then followed into the elevator, heading to the top-floor VIP intensive care unit…

Jones walked over to Simon Xu and whispered, “Xu, this wasn’t an accident…” Simon Xu’s face turned grim and stern… Not an accident? Intentional? He wouldn’t allow it! He then followed Jones to where the officers were…

The VIP room was decorated like a five-star hotel. The heart monitor by the bed, the rising and falling of the respirator, emitted a soothing, steady sound… In the quiet room, Dean sat beside Ye Ye’s bed, gently stroking her now clean, beautiful face, a bandage wrapped around her forehead, her complexion still pale, but—thankfully, she was okay…

“Duke, let me report on the young lady’s condition.” An elegant old man with the hospital director’s badge on his pocket stood respectfully beside Dean.

“Hmm—” Dean made a single sound in acknowledgment but did not turn around, his large hand still holding Ye Ye’s right hand that wasn’t on an IV, stroking it repeatedly…

“The young lady has suffered a severe head injury with signs of moderate concussion, but brain scans show no hemorrhage. We cannot rule out complications upon awakening, such as vomiting, dizziness, nosebleeds, or even amnesia…” The old director looked at the diagnosis report, speaking earnestly.

“Amnesia…” Dean suddenly realized that if she had amnesia, might she forget him? He immediately let go of Ye Ye’s hand, stood up, and his sharp eyes scanned the old director: “She—cannot have amnesia!” She cannot forget him!

“It’s just based on similar cases of accidents; similar symptoms might occur… uh… it’s not absolute… please rest assured, even if it happens, it could be temporary, recoverable through self-healing or physical therapy like hypnosis… so, you can be at ease!”
