The Duke’s Affair – Part Two [Complited]

The next morning, Jones gently knocked on the door of the hospital room. Dean was still there, sitting beside Ye Ye, his large hand tightly holding her right hand, having stayed up all night… Glancing at the still sleeping Ye Ye and the concerned Dean, Jones lowered his voice and said, “Duke, the car accident scene and the confession of the perpetrator prove that this was not an accident.” It was evident he hadn’t slept either, investigating the details of the accident.

“What happened?” Dean stood up, his voice cold as he met Jones’s gaze.

“The perpetrator is the maid you previously fired. She’s now under police custody on the 5th floor. After an overnight interrogation, she confessed that out of jealousy and resentment, because of your affection towards Ye Ye and her ‘dutiful’ confiscation of Ye Ye’s weapons leading to her dismissal, she harbored deep grudges. She had been lurking around the villa since the day she was fired, waiting for a chance to retaliate against Ye Ye, which led to yesterday’s incident.”

“So it was her!” Dean kissed Ye Ye’s fingers, “How come? Wasn’t she seriously injured? Did she wake up that night?” Dean asked. His Ye Ye was still unconscious, while that hateful perpetrator had already woken up… This was unacceptable; he would not allow anyone who harmed his people to live so easily!

“From the skid marks and the direction at the scene, Miss Ye’s car almost completely absorbed the impact, so the maid only got a few cuts on her forehead and lost a few teeth. She woke up shortly after being brought to the hospital,” Jones explained.

“Since she wanted mutual destruction, how come she didn’t die?” Dean asked.

“She claims she didn’t intend to kill Miss Ye, just to scare her by crashing into her car, but Miss Ye had almost no defensive ability. She didn’t even steer, just crashed down the mountain road straight ahead…” Jones frowned, knowing the reason but not elaborating. Actually, Dean knew why Ye Ye didn’t defend herself; her left arm was injured, which distracted her attention, and the pain prevented her from steering sharply to avoid danger… His heart ached… Because of him, he had let the injured Ye Ye leave… But for the one who plotted against Ye Ye, he would show no mercy!
