“You were fired?” Yao Hongyu was surprised. “How? Didn’t the hotel hire you because they needed staff for the wedding?”
“What staff do they need when the wedding is canceled?” She had originally just wanted to see what it was like.
“Wedding canceled? How is that possible?”
“I’m sitting in the car right now, isn’t that proof enough?”
That might be true, but… “Aren’t weddings of wealthy families always grand? How could it be suddenly canceled?”
Hongyu clearly remembered the newspapers had recently published large headlines about the Yun and Jian families’ marriage alliance. Wealthy people should be too concerned about saving face to do something like this.
“How would I know? I heard the groom ran away.” This had even caused her to work for nothing.
“Ran away? Why?” Hongyu asked instinctively.
“Who knows? Maybe the bride looks like a ghost!” Xiaoyou said, then heard a muffled laugh. “Why are you laughing?” She thought her friend was heartless.
“Laugh? I’m not laughing,” Hongyu on the other end was confused about why her friend would say this.
If not Hongyu, then who? She clearly heard…
“Never mind, I’m driving.” Xiaoyou hung up without waiting for a response.
Glancing in the rearview mirror, she pulled over to the roadside.
Unless it was an auditory hallucination, she was certain she had heard a laugh, albeit a muffled one.
Xiaoyou slowly turned her head. The back seat was empty, and instinctively, she stretched her neck to look under the back seat.
A sudden human figure caused her to scream, “Ah—”
Yun Shaoye understood he had startled her.
“Who are you?! Why are you here?” She was terrified by this man who had unexpectedly emerged from under the back seat, especially given his large build.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you,” he tried to reassure her, but with little effect.
“Who are you? Why are you hiding in my car?” Was he here to rob her? Or… something else?!
“The groom,” Yun Shaoye stated his identity.
Xiaoyou was stunned. “The groom?”
He elaborated further, “The groom you just mentioned.”
“You’re the groom?!”
“You can see I’m still wearing the groom’s wedding suit.”
Indeed, he was still wearing the groom’s attire, which somewhat calmed her.
Since you’re the groom, why are you hiding in my car instead of getting married?”
