“This is the will of the gods.” She bent down, gently lifting his face. “You possess beauty and talent beyond others; you could have so much. By choosing me, you will have nothing.”
“My life, having nothing, only has you! Is the will of the gods always right? Ye Feng, are you afraid of divine punishment?”
“Yes, I fear you might suffer misfortune. Ya’er, you are the most important person to me. I could do anything…” She burst into tears. “Why must you be my brother?” She had never questioned the god of fate before him.
“Feng’er, let’s declare war on the gods. Together, let’s fight against fate!” He pulled her up, embracing her. “Let’s share the misfortune together; this is our pact!”
Bearing the burden of a cruel fate in pursuit of true love. Will the gods forgive this illicit love?
Meijiang lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, no need to go to work today. Wenshan, won’t you come and hold me? She turned her head to look at her husband on the other bed. Tian Wenshan leaned against the bed, reading a novel with his head down.
“Wenshan, how long has it been since we were together?” she asked softly.
He didn’t move, casually replying, “A long time, I guess.”
“Don’t you want to?” She opened her robe, revealing her body wrapped in black semi-transparent sleepwear. “Come on, Wenshan.”
Tian Wenshan looked at Meijiang. This familiar woman, with her elastic body, long legs, where he once experienced all the joys and happiness of life. He put down the book, took off his gold-rimmed glasses, got out of bed, and walked towards her.
The black lace edges, the white, plump flesh, stimulated his senses and desires. He loved her, and throughout their marriage, she was the only woman. Wenshan reached the bedside and bent over.
Lips met lips, bodies intertwined. She only felt a routine, emotionless sensation. He felt somewhat odd. Tian Wenshan was usually a gentle and affectionate husband, but in bed, he was always passionate, never sparing his strength.
Could he have another woman?
Wenshan wanted to love her with all his might; he had promised that. However, now, there was another he wanted to love. A different kind of love, an illicit affair fraught with danger and excitement. Bingqing, why did you appear?
Meijiang couldn’t sleep, her mind full of doubts and unease. Tian Wenshan, who almost always came home on time, how could he possibly have an affair? The scene of their first meeting flashed in her mind…
The gentle breeze blew, and the petals of the hibiscus fell like snow. The boy standing in front of her had a smile as radiant as sunshine, his warmth spreading a tender affection across the heart of the river. In this harsh era where chance encounters often lead to disasters, he was a refreshing sight.
“Teacher Tian, I am Zhong Wen Shan. Please take good care of me,” he said, looking at her. “I graduated from the same high school as you.”
“Really? I’m sorry, I don’t remember you.”
“Of course not. You were a senior, a beauty, and the famous talent of the entire county. You’ve always been my idol!”
“What?” Her heart skipped a beat.
“I studied hard to get into the same university as you,” he said directly.
He loves me so much, perhaps he’s just too exhausted. Trying to convince herself, Meijiang was about to fall asleep when she suddenly heard a familiar name by her ear.
“Qing Jian, Qing Jian!” It was Wen Shan calling out in his dream, full of longing and deep affection. He was deeply lost in his dream, where he could embrace and love him, forgetting the reality.
Meijiang opened her eyes in shock. Qing Jian from the ice hockey team! That seventeen-year-old boy! They were both men! No, it couldn’t be! But such an intimate tone, you only called out my name in moments of great passion, how do you explain this?
His body was tangled, his handsome face even more attractive in excitement; his tousled hair, delicate fingers, Wen Shan’s dream became even more chaotic.
Don’t let this end! I’m deeply attracted to you, even though I know it would only ruin our happiness! God, why tempt me with such sinful fruit to disregard everything?
Zheng Xiu was calling out to Chun from the swimming pool. “Come swim with me.”
“I won’t swim. I almost drowned during college, I’m scared of water,” she said, sitting on a lounge chair by the pool, a novel in hand.
He chuckled mischievously and dove into the water. Swimming over to her side, he used the book to block her view and then pulled her into the water by her ankle.
“Help!” A long, sharp scream echoed. In the water, she instinctively grabbed onto him for survival.
“Aren’t you in the water now?” he laughed, grabbing her chin.
She pushed him away with force, “It’s all your fault, I’m soaked through!”
Zheng Xiu helped her to the shore, his hand on the edge as he climbed up. “Change your clothes quickly, or you’ll catch a cold.”
Chun was in her pajamas, ready to go to bed, but Zheng Xiu had dragged her to the pool in a moment of whimsy. “I’ll go change.”
“Right here is fine,” he said with a sly smile. “Need help?”
“Don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking!” Chun’s face turned red. She was really fed up with this man! She wanted to escape back to her room.
Zheng Xiu blocked her path. “It’s not like I haven’t seen it before. Chun, put on this swimsuit.” He pointed to a new pink swimsuit.
“You promise not to take advantage of me?”
“Promise.” He laughed even more. “Or do you want me to change with you?”
“No need!” she retorted sharply. This man always finds ways to touch her, does he have a sexual appetite disorder?
Facing him, she ordered him to turn around. “No peeking!” she began to undress.
He counted silently in his heart, “Forty-five… fifty-five…” He turned around and embraced her, who was still wet. “You are so beautiful!”
“Quit joking! You promised!” Her face flushed with a soft protest.
“Promised in the heat of the moment, how could you believe that!” He held her waist and laid her down by the pool. “Let me love you, Chun! I can’t hold it anymore!”
“Here?” Her desire was ignited by the look in his eyes. She wanted him too.
“What’s wrong with making love by my pool, with the woman I love?” He started kissing her hair, “Are you ready? I want to give you so much love.”
She surrendered her passion and deep affection. She loved him, every part of her body and soul needed him!
The ice room was clear, overlooking the night view of Dongjing. The numerous lights of the skyscrapers shone brighter than the stars in the sky.
In the vast sea of people, searching for someone who could stay, to light an eternal lamp for him. Did he have such a lamp behind him?
No warm past; his parents’ cold faces had long faded into the depths of his memory. No friends in the past, always alone bearing all the pain. No hope in life, merely surviving for Wen Shan.
She deeply loved him, but she didn’t know his true feelings. Though he had said words of affection, she couldn’t be sure if being together would bring happiness. Perhaps it was just sympathy, perhaps just because of music; he might not truly understand how to love her. He wanted to possess Wen Shan completely, what a foolish dream!
She thought about doing as Ya’er had done, destroying everything. No, you can’t let Wen Shan fall into an unhappy fate!
In the ice room, you are but a insignificant person. You can’t ask for too much, you don’t have the right!
He stood by the window, his cold face filled with pain from his thoughts.
Chapter Twelve
Feng Jianya and Ye Feng sat in the limousine returning from the airport. The journey was silent. His disguise was effective; the driver didn’t recognize him at all.
The sound shops on the streets played the latest single of Feng Shen with high fidelity.
He dared not look at her. Ever since they boarded the plane in Taipei, she hadn’t spoken.
