Strangely, Shen Mu wasn’t drying his hair; he was drying the glasses case. Xu Ke suddenly remembered there was a photo inside it. What photo was so precious? It’s just a man, right? She became curious, but he quickly closed the glasses case when she entered, as if afraid she might see it. Xu Ke tried to calm her irritation, saying to him, “I need to get back to work.” Shen Mu picked up the hairdryer and the glasses case, walked past her, and in a moment of awkwardness, his towel’s belt accidentally caught her finger, causing it to loosen further. Shen Mu, smiling, paused and looked back at her, “Since intimidation didn’t work, are you trying to seduce me now?” Xu Ke felt her recently calmed anger being stirred up again.
Shen Mu entered another room, seemingly to dry his glasses case again. Xu Ke, at her wit’s end, stormed in, quickly grabbed the glasses case from him. Shen Mu’s expression changed; he turned off the hairdryer and pulled her into his embrace. Xu Ke felt her plan was flawed again, having intended to threaten him for the password by taking the case, but instead, she ended up trapped in his arms. If he had held her longer, it would have been awkward with him dressed so scantily. In terms of wit and courage, she was no match for him, but when pushed to the edge, one could muster some fierce spirit, like now, when she was imagining stepping on him, wiping her shoes on him.
Shen Mu turned and picked up the phone on the table, dialing a number. “Is that He Peng? It’s Shen Mu. Xu Ke is here to discuss household matters, she might not be back this afternoon.” Then he handed the phone to Xu Ke. She had no choice but to take it. He Peng’s voice was overly enthusiastic, “Xu Ke, you’re really dedicated, discussing business even during lunch. I’ll definitely mention your dedication in the next meeting. Take your time with him, even if it goes until tomorrow.” Until tomorrow… Xu Ke was speechless, enduring her internal injuries, yet she had to respond with a “Yes,” professionalism being a basic requirement.
