The Trials of Rebirth

A thousand years, even for gods, is not short. Back then, I loved him desperately and was half-dead when we broke up. Yet to prove I wasn’t only in love with him, I still lived next door. I thought I could restrain myself and live well. Now I realized it wasn’t that I restrained myself, but that he had restrained himself. If he had run into my room one night, I might have actually pressed him down.

Fortunately, it was daytime. I suddenly pushed him, flipping him underneath, tearing open my own collar, not caring how much was exposed, staring at him and saying: “If you want this body, I’ll give it to you. After you’re done, will you finally leave me alone?

I bet he won’t touch me again, and in fact, I won the bet. After all these years, the scum’s nature hasn’t changed. Seeing him look at me calmly, I slowly got up and ran inside to change clothes.

As I wandered through the clouds, I furrowed my brow while looking at the book in my hand.

That peach tree was originally just an ordinary tree. Later, when a cultivator transplanted it into their courtyard, it absorbed the spiritual energy of immortal cultivation, gained a form, and became a small spirit with an immortal aura. If everything went normally, it might even be ranked among the immortals in five hundred years.

But it wanted to be reborn.

I scratched my head and asked, “Floating Cloud, cultivation is so difficult. Why do so many people want to be reborn?”

Floating Cloud answered, “I want to as well.”

I was startled and leaned on its soft body, asking, “Why? When do you want to go back to?”

“Back to when you weren’t fat.”

“I’ll tell Cloud Sister tomorrow that you like her and want to marry her.”

“…Actually, you’re quite good like this. Being plump is a blessing.”

Arriving at the courtyard and putting away Floating Cloud, I saw thousands of pear trees in full bloom. White petals scattered on the ground, the pear fragrance permeating the air, more refreshing than the flower groves of the divine realm.

In this white expanse, beside the pear trees, there was a peach tree covered in pink blossoms.

Seeing the spiritual energy surrounding it, I had just walked forward and hadn’t spoken when suddenly the pear flower forest was swept by a fierce wind. Branches trembled violently, dark clouds covered the sky, and the howling sounded like thousands of armies roaring.

Oh, what an impressive momentum. I clicked my tongue in praise. Though it was all just an illusion, it would be good for scaring mortals.

My face twitched as I lazily looked at its bloody fangs. If you’re going to scare someone, at least show some protruding teeth: “Which immortal god are you?”

The voice paused, then continued roaring, “I am the Earth Lord who manages the growth of all things in the world.

“Huh?” I frowned at it. “I’ve never heard of such a god. Are you trying to fool me?”

“Huh? Not known?” The voice muttered, “Sister Yu clearly said this god existed. Did I remember wrong?”

I silently shook my head. Rebirth, oh rebirth, bullying a child is really unfair.

“Actually, I…”

Before I could finish, a clean, crisp voice came from behind: “By my name, disperse.”

In an instant, the world became as clear as a mirror, and the pear blossom fragrance drifted away. Looking back, I saw a handsome man.

Wearing a lotus-blue long robe, his hair fully tied back, a long sword inserted behind him. His appearance was flawless as a spring, looking clean and elegant, truly possessing an immortal’s demeanor. I thought this must be the owner of the pear flower garden, the cultivator Jian Chen.

“Brother Chen.”

A girl’s bell-like voice rang out. A lovely woman in a pink dress stepped lightly next to Jian Chen and pointed at me, saying, “This person broke in. I was just teaching her a lesson.”

Jian Chen glanced at me, his gaze pausing momentarily, and said, “May I ask what brings the divine lord here?”

I smiled appreciatively: “I’m here on a mission, but not for you. I’m here for the peach spirit beside you.”

The plum flower spirit’s eyes widened, and she instinctively hid behind him: “The flower hasn’t done anything wrong. Brother Chen, save me.”

I twitched my mouth.

I was clearly smiling purely and kindly, so why was I being seen as the villain?

Jian Chen frowned slightly: “What does the divine lord want with the flower?”

I spoke seriously, reciting the unchanging centuries-old lines: “I am the Rebirth Lord from the divine realm. The rebirth intention you sought has been received. Seven days from now, we will perform a space-time conversion and send you back to the past.”

Jian Chen was stunned, looking at the already dazed peach spirit: “Where do you want to go back to?”

The peach spirit seemed not to hear, asking me tremblingly: “Can you really send me back to any time period?”

I nodded. Jian Chen asked again: “Where do you want to go back to?”

The peach spirit suddenly let go of his hand, looking up steadily: “I want to go back three years ago.”

Jian Chen was silent for a moment, seeing the tears in her eyes, and sighed: “You don’t need to do this. This is a great calamity. How can it be changed so easily?”

The peach spirit shook her head, her eyes rimmed with red: “Even if it means defying fate, I want to go back. I want Sister Yu to return. The flower doesn’t want to see you and Sister Yu so sad.”

I raised an eyebrow on the side. Could it be that the tragic heroine of this story is not this peach spirit, but someone else? I propped my chin, deep in thought. It seems this mission won’t pass boringly.

“Borrowing my blood, by my name, lock.”

What spell is this young man casting?

I looked up, and a spiritual light talisman was slapped directly on me, instantly binding my immortal energy and transforming me into a mortal body.

I’d always heard that divine lords could be counterattacked while executing missions, but I never believed it. Now it seems my immortal path has come to a perfect end.

The Divine Lord has finally been counterattacked by an ignorant fool!!!

Peach Blossom Rebirth (Part Two)

The Peach Flower Spirit was shocked: “Brother Dust, what have you done to the Divine Lord?”

Jian Chen remained silent, stepped forward and bowed: “Divine Lord, please forgive me.”

Hmph, I’ll slap you and then give you candy to see if you’ll forgive me. I said impatiently: “What are you doing? Attacking the Divine Lord is against heavenly laws. I’m afraid you’ll find it difficult to ascend to immortality in the future.”

The Peach Flower Spirit was startled again: “Brother Dust, what are you doing?”

Jian Chen gave her a slight glare: “Within seven days, do not think about rebirth.” He then looked at me, “After seven days, I will break the spell. Please stay here as a guest for some time.”

I looked at him leisurely: “Oh, it seems this isn’t an attack, but imprisonment.”

Jian Chen did not respond, turning to leave the pear garden, his back looking lonely. The Peach Flower Spirit chased a few steps, then stopped, turning back with eyes full of grievance, her nose slightly red: “Divine Lord, please do not punish Brother Dust.”

He just doesn’t want the flower to be hurt again.”

I rolled my eyes and moved closer to her, laughing: “I want to gossip with you. What are you trying to be reborn for? Something about three years ago, something about Sister Jade, and why won’t he let you go back?”

The Peach Flower Spirit looked me over, her little eyes clearly doubting me. After a while, she said: “One hundred and twenty years ago, I was this tall, and later when I was this tall, I encountered a great drought and shriveled to this height…”

“Stop.” I waved my hand tearfully, “Can’t you gesture the height when you’re talking…”

“Oh,” the Peach Flower Spirit stuck out her tongue, “I’ve only taken form in the past two years, so my hands and feet are a bit uncoordinated.”
