The Undead

Tang Hao turned back at the sound, pupils constricting.

The SUV at the top of the hill started in a hail of gunfire, its windows shattered and riddled with bullet holes, charging down the steep slope like mad. It knocked away several armed special forces soldiers along the way, bringing down trees and grass directly toward him!

Abbas, the large man in the driver’s seat, held the steering wheel with one hand and pointed a black gun barrel at him with the other.

Jian cried out: “No!”

But it was too late.

Tang Hao turned to run, and bullets whistled behind him, accurately piercing his calf!

With a bang, Tang Hao stumbled to his knees, his mind going blank, only hearing the engine rapidly approaching from behind.

Instincts honed from years of peacekeeping missions saved him. Tang Hao rolled flat on the ground, feeling the hot wheel brush past his face, kicking up dust and sand.

Screech— The tires screeched against the ground as Abbas hit the brakes, quickly reversing and turning around.

Here’s the edited article:

“What are you doing?!” Jian almost fled, shouting from dozens of meters away: “You idiot, what are you shooting at?!”

Abbas remained silent, not responding at all, and again stepped on the gas to ram toward Tang Hao!

“—Colonel Tang!”

Tang Hao lay on the ground covered in blood, looking up to see several special forces soldiers sprinting toward the SUV while firing submachine guns, with Ding Shi, the 188-tall one, at the front.

Tang Hao seemed to think of nothing, yet his mind was extraordinarily clear. He heard his own voice rising above the approaching engine and crazy gunfire, louder and clearer than ever before:

“Stop!”

“Catch!”

With the car’s shadow in his peripheral vision, Tang Hao threw the antibody test tube with all his might.

Everything happened simultaneously.

Ding Shi suddenly stopped, dropped his gun, and leaped forward, stretching out his hands just before the antibody hit the ground, barely catching the test tube;

Tang Hao closed his eyes peacefully, countless life scenes flashing before him;

In the distance, Sinan forcefully pulled the scarf from his purple-strangled neck, kneeling and arching back like a boneless snake breaking free. The next second, Romuel watched him charge forward.

Zhou Rong didn’t pause, turning to rush towards Si Nan, but a bullet nearly grazed him.

“Romule!” Ding Shi shouted: “Be careful, Brother Rong!”

Zhou Rong rolled on the ground, dodging behind a rock, seeing Romule shooting while charging towards the vehicle. His movement was indeed too quick; a fast-moving target in a complex battle was difficult for a sniper. Yan Hao’s bullets almost chased him, but either missed the angle or were just a hair’s breadth away, several bullets kicking up dust near his feet.

Zhou Rong had no time to aim, firing a few shots by instinct, also missing. He saw Romule rush into the car, pushing Abbas’s corpse out, then starting the vehicle.

“Damn!” The car had anti-body protection; Zhou Rong didn’t dare shoot the fuel tank, cursing: “What brand is this car, I’ll buy one too!”

Romule yanked the handbrake and turned the steering wheel. Closest to Ding Shi, he took two strides, throwing Ding Shi out with the car’s rear before he could get close, tumbling into the grass.

Romule: “Jane!”

Si Nan’s vision went dark, his mind blank, trying to force himself up but failing as soon as he started.

“Huff… huff…”

He couldn’t hear his own harsh breathing, as if moving would tear his internal organs with pain, his mouth full of a sweet and bloody metallic taste.

But a warrior’s subconscious made him sense someone behind him, danger approaching quickly, requiring immediate evasion.

Then someone heavily stepped on his waist. A female Alpha, back turned to the approaching off-road vehicle, bent down to grab Si Nan’s collar:

“—It’s over.”

At that moment, a black shadow flew horizontally, Jane not even having time to react before being violently knocked away!

Chun Cao landed steadily after a mid-air flying kick, raising an eyebrow with a malicious smile, revealing two rows of small white teeth.

“Come on, come on—”

Jane didn’t waste words, throwing a punch with fierce wind towards that face!

—At that moment.

A sniper bullet from hundreds of meters away whooshed in, piercing her skull!

Jane froze, then collapsing.

Chun Cao: “Yan Hao, you finally took down one before running out of bullets!”

Zhou Rong: “Daughter, be careful! Dodge!”

Chun Cao darted to the side. In a flash, the off-road vehicle brushed past her.

Zhou Rong knew Romule’s target and rushed out from behind the rock to save Si Nan, but saw Si Nan, seemingly finding unknown strength, coughing blood while climbing up.

“Si Xiao…

“Zhou Rong suddenly glimpsed something, his voice abruptly stopping.

In the forest opposite the slope, many figures emerged, swaying while climbing through the trees, converging towards the open ground.

—The intense battle had attracted the zombie horde in the canyon!

“All units, attention, zombie groups gathering within 100 meters to the south, prepare for firepower breakthrough!” Zhou Rong ran towards Si Nan while adjusting the channel, switching the assault rifle to continuous fire: “Call support group! Initial mission completed, come for support immediately! Quickly!”

The radio crackled: “Support team received signal, will dispatch helicopter, estimated…”

“—Si Nan!” Zhou Rong suddenly shouted: “Don’t! Let him go!”

Si Nan, seemingly recovering slightly in a brief moment of breathing, grabbed the car door handle as the off-road vehicle rushed by, being lifted into the air, then quickly climbing onto the roof.

Zhou Rong was the first to react, instantly chasing the vehicle. Chun Cao saw the car’s front directly facing the approaching zombie horde, her head buzzing: “Brother Rong! Come back!!!”

“All units!” Tang Hao, dragging his bleeding leg, picked up the gun and shouted hoarsely: “Concentrate fire! Cover Zhou’s team! Quickly!”

The off-road vehicle bumped and rolled over the mountain road, Si Nan gritting his teeth and holding tightly to the roof.”

In the car, Romuel glanced at Zhou Rong’s figure in the rearview mirror, a fierce look flashing in his eyes. He suddenly stomped on the gas pedal, sending a group of zombies flying in all directions!

The zombies were dismembered, rotten blood splattered everywhere, but more zombies staggered up and surged towards the unprotected Zhou Rong behind the car.

Romuel looked up and suddenly turned the steering wheel, the centrifugal force nearly throwing Sinan off.

A loud crash sounded as Sinan grabbed the car’s corner with his free hand!

Romuel was too late to react – Sinan swung more than half his body out from the side, bent his knee mid-air, and in a lightning-fast move, dove through the side window into the car cabin!

The off-road vehicle traversed rugged ravines, continuously crushing bushes and rocks, side mirrors successively knocked off by trees and zombies, flying far away.

In the driver’s cabin, Romuel drew his gun. Just as he chambered a round, Sinan grabbed his hand and forcibly raised it. During the struggle, the gun discharged, all shots hitting the car roof!

Bullet casings flew wildly in the small space, all ammunition spent. Romuel threw the gun to grab the steering wheel, but Sinan desperately blocked him, the car’s front racing towards a wide tree ravine!

Romuel roared: “Have you lost your mind?!”

Sinan smiled slightly, blood flowing from the corner of his mouth: “I told you I’d leave you dead here today.”

The coldness and determination in those words stunned Romuel, who tried to brake but was too late. The car’s front shot past the ravine’s edge, wheels spinning wildly in the air, then the heavy vehicle lost balance and plunged headfirst into the deep ravine!
