The Unmoving Bride

Duan Shiyun looked down, his face changing color instantly. “This… how can this be?” The blood was as colorful as the snake Hei Tou had described, which was truly bizarre. Dr. Sun shook his head, “No one can figure out what’s going on, not even Yang Feng knows how to deal with it.”

Yang Feng? Who was he? Duan Shiyun hadn’t heard this name before, and yet Dr. Sun had mentioned him several times. Scanning the pharmacy, he asked, “Who is Yang Feng?”

“I am Yang Feng,” Wu Yangfeng stepped forward.

Duan Shiyun nodded and continued, “Who went with the boss to collect the debt today?”

“It was me, Old Qiao, Old Yuan, Xiao Li, and Shang Bieye. Shang Bieye was the first to support the boss,” Hei Tou pointed out each person.

“Thank you, Shang Bieye,” Duan Shiyun expressed his gratitude.

“It’s my duty,” Shang Bieye replied humbly.

Duan Shiyun nodded and turned to Wu Yangfeng. “Why can the antidote pill only suppress the poison and not cure it?”

“This poison is very strange, almost as if it’s alive. The antidote pill temporarily suppresses it, but the poison fights back, consuming the pill until it’s gone,” Wu Yangfeng explained, experiencing this for the first time.

“Is there no hope for the boss?”

“Not necessarily. In nature, there’s always something that can counteract everything else, so there must be an antidote herb out there. Alternatively, catching that snake, taking its gall, drinking its blood, and cooking its body with herbs might also be a solution.”

“What about the snake? Did you catch it?” Duan Shiyun asked, but everyone shook their heads guiltily.

“Shang Bieye almost had it, but it slipped away just as he was about to grab it,” Old Qiao regretfully punched the wall.

So, Shang Bieye knew martial arts too? He and this new pharmacy assistant seemed quite capable. Duan Shiyun thought to himself. But now, with the snake gone, was Nie Kuang doomed? He dropped his shoulders in despair, his brows furrowed tightly.

“Hei Tou, Old Qiao, stay here and assist Dr. Sun. Follow his instructions,” Duan Shiyun ordered.

“Yes, we understand,” Hei Tou and Old Qiao responded.

“Yang Feng, Shang Ye, both of you come with me,” said Duan Shiyun, not even glancing back to see if they followed, as he walked directly outside. Shang Bieye and Wu Yangfeng exchanged a look before following Duan Shiyun out. Duan Shiyun led Shang Bieye and Wu Yangfeng to the “Chen Yu Hall,” a place within the Black Stockade where major decisions were made. “Please sit, both of you,” Duan Shiyun gestured. Shang Bieye and Wu Yangfeng each chose a seat and sat down.
