The Unmoving Bride

“Ah…” Yan Xinmeng’s entire face turned as red as a ripe persimmon. Shang Bieye took one look and knew what was going on, barely containing his laughter. Although Aunt Qian didn’t know what had happened between them earlier, as someone who had been through it all, she could tell at a glance that it was something sweet between the two, and she quietly chuckled to herself. “Huh? Why is Big Brother Xinmeng’s face so red?” Little Potato asked, clueless. “Thud!” Little Potato’s head was smacked hard by Aunt Qian, causing him to clench his teeth in pain. “Mom, that hurts!” He rubbed the spot where he was hit. “Kids shouldn’t ask about things they don’t understand,” Aunt Qian said seriously, though the amusement in her eyes was evident. “I didn’t do anything!” Little Potato shouted. “Alright, stop making a fuss, go to the backyard and catch a chicken and some fish for your master and mistress to eat here,” Aunt Qian said, grabbing Little Potato by the ear. “Got it, Mom! But you need to let go of my ear first,” Little Potato grumbled. “Go, go, go!” Aunt Qian let go and shooed Little Potato away. Little Potato dashed off to the backyard, and Aunt Qian shook her head with a smile. Seeing Aunt Qian and her son still bickering as they always did, Yan Xinmeng felt that even though it was just the two of them, their life was lively.

“Mr. Shang, Little Brother Xinmeng… Oh! Look at me, getting confused. I told Little Potato to change how he addresses you, but I forgot to change myself!” Aunt Qian slapped her own head, “Mr. Shang, Miss Xinmeng, come inside!”

“It’s okay, Aunt Qian, it doesn’t matter what they call me,” Yan Xinmeng said with a gentle smile.

“Ha ha, that’s right, as long as you understand!” Aunt Qian laughed.
