After dinner, Shang Bieye said he wanted to show Yan Xinmeng a place but wouldn’t tell her where it was. “You won’t say where we’re going, so mysterious,” Yan Xinmeng eyed Shang Bieye. “Just follow me,” Shang Bieye pulled her towards the right back of Aunt Qian’s house. As they walked, they suddenly heard the sound of a stream. “Huh? What’s that sound?” Yan Xinmeng listened intently. “That’s the sound of water, there’s a small stream ahead,” Shang Bieye suddenly pulled out a cloth strip and covered her eyes. “Big Brother, what are you doing?” Yan Xinmeng didn’t expect Shang Bieye to blindfold her and tried to remove it. “Wait, I want to show you something,” Shang Bieye held her hands back. “But with this cloth over my eyes, how can I see anything?” Yan Xinmeng exclaimed. “Don’t worry, I’ll guide you,” Shang Bieye said, and before she could protest, he scooped her up. “Ah!” Yan Xinmeng let out a light scream, her arms tightly around his neck. After about fifteen minutes, Shang Bieye set her down. “We’re here!” He removed the blindfold. Because her eyes hadn’t adjusted to the light, Yan Xinmeng shielded her eyes, slowly opening them. “What’s so mysterious that you need to…” Her voice grew quieter as she gazed at the scene before her. “Do you like it?” Shang Bieye asked softly. Yan Xinmeng didn’t say anything, turning to look at Shang Bieye, tears welling up in her eyes. “What’s wrong? Don’t you like it? Did I do something wrong?” Shang Bieye worried. Seeing her teary eyes, Shang Bieye’s heart tightened. Yan Xinmeng shook her head with a smile, her voice choked, “No, you did nothing wrong, I love it, I really do!”
