The Unmoving Bride

“That’s why Master wants us to retrieve and destroy it before the Black Fortress Gate figures out its function, to prevent any trouble,” Shang Bieye said.

“When do we set out?” Wu Yangfeng asked.

Shang Bieye gave a strange smile, “Tomorrow night.”

“Tomorrow night?” the other three exclaimed in unison.

“Yes! That’s right, tomorrow night,” Shang Bieye confirmed with certainty.

“Brother, although my sister-in-law doesn’t need to go back to her parents’ home, our mother promised the Yan family to let them stay at our home for three days before they return,” Shang Liqiun quickly interjected. He was worried that if his brother slipped away, the responsibility of looking after the new bride would fall on him.

“Yes, Bieye, even though you’ve married a motionless bride, you are still the groom. How can you just leave like that? Aren’t you afraid of mother’s wrath?” Bu Yuchen disagreed.

“Indeed, Liqiun and Yuchen are right. You’re acting too impulsively. The Yan family is a respectable household, and their daughter’s condition is not something they wish for. Have you forgotten that we’ve always protected good families?” Wu Yangfeng also disapproved.

Shang Bieye looked at them leisurely until Wu Yangfeng mentioned the “good families.”

“Exactly because it’s a good family, and the motionless bride is my wife. To find a magical elixir to restore her mobility, we must act with haste,” Shang Bieye said slowly, scanning the room.

“I see,” Bu Yuchen nodded in understanding.

Shang Liqiun gave Shang Bieye’s shoulder a light punch and laughed, “Brother, I thought you didn’t care about brotherhood.”

“Oh, I don’t care,” Shang Bieye glanced at him sideways. Seeing his odd look, Shang Liqiun felt a chill.

“Don’t be so scared. I just need you to stay at home for three days, then join us,” Shang Bieye said.

“Why? Why do I always have to stay behind first and then join you later?” Shang Liqiun protested.

Shang Bieye, Bu Yuchen, and Wu Yangfeng exchanged a glance and burst into laughter, saying in unison, “For no reason, just because you’re the youngest and the last to join.”

Shang Liqiun had no response, only pouting in frustration since he was indeed the youngest and the last to join.
