Unable to shake off the relentless Mo Xie, Fu Xiu spewed flames with a “whoosh”. Liu Bugun, riding the roc, dodged the flames, which instead struck the towering mountains, igniting them, and the earth, causing wildfires to spread, consuming the people who cried out in agony as they were engulfed by the dragon’s fire.
Liu Bugun could not let him harm the creatures of the earth anymore. He rode the roc, charging directly at Fu Xiu. With the force of thunder, he thrust his sword towards Fu Xiu’s face. Fu Xiu, prepared, sneered and pulled Xu Caitong in front of him as a shield. “Go ahead, kill her, kill the woman you love,” he taunted. The sword was inches from Xu Caitong. Seeing it was Liu Bugun’s sword, she closed her eyes. Liu Bugun gave a cold laugh; just as the sword was about to strike, he released its force. True to form, Fu Xiu had used Xu Caitong as a shield, but Liu Bugun feinted and quickly reversed his strike, aiming for Fu Xiu’s lower body. “Fu Xiu, meet your doom,” he declared.
Fu Xiu, thinking he had tricked Mo Xie into killing his woman, was caught off guard by the feint and the swift attack. Liu Bugun’s sword hit its mark, causing Fu Xiu to cry out and lash his tail at Liu Bugun. Liu Bugun, riding the roc, swiftly dodged and flew towards Fu Xiu’s head, swinging his sword down. Fu Xiu twisted in mid-air, narrowly avoiding the blow but not before receiving a superficial cut on his head.
Infuriated, Fu Xiu flew towards the North Sea, with Liu Bugun in hot pursuit. “Fu Xiu, why struggle in vain?” Liu Bugun declared righteously. “Whoosh,” Fu Xiu turned and spewed more flames, but Liu Bugun had already ascended to the sky, evading the fiery attack.
Fu Xiu, injured and in disarray, escaped towards the North Sea, where the waves were tumultuous. The Dragon King of the North Sea, Ao Shun, had been driven out by Fu Xiu’s minions. Ao Shun had gone to the Heavenly Court to report, but due to the chaos in heaven and the underworld, the Jade Emperor instructed Ao Shun to rest in the East Sea until Mo Xie subdued the demon and the North Sea could return to its former vibrancy.
