Veiled Heartbreak

Veiled Heartbreak

Chapter 1

Headquarters of the Hua Nan Group, top-floor office. On the snow-white sheets, Jiang Nuan’s long, jet-black hair was scattered. Fu Yusen’s black eyes were like fire as he lifted Jiang Nuan slightly, enveloping her in an overwhelming kiss, with a force as if to devour her whole. When everything returned to calm. Jiang Nuan felt limp all over, as if she had died and come back to life. After regaining her strength, Jiang Nuan fastened the last button of her shirt: “Last night, some media leaked rumors about you. I’ll have the PR department handle it later.” Fu Yusen leaned against the headboard, lit a cigarette, and looked at her indifferently. “No need.” Jiang Nuan turned around, meeting Fu Yusen’s peach blossom eyes. The excitement in those eyes had faded, leaving only indifference. “That’s true, I’m getting engaged.” Jiang Nuan’s face turned pale, her mouth opened and closed, but no words came out. Fu Yusen leisurely enjoyed her loss of composure, slowly exhaling smoke. But within ten seconds, Jiang Nuan had composed herself. She lowered her eyes slightly: “I understand, Mr. Fu.” Then she opened the bedside drawer, took out a pill, and swallowed it in front of Fu Yusen. Fu Yusen’s eyes instantly darkened. Jiang Nuan left the CEO’s office and went straight to the conference room. A balding man in his fifties who had been waiting eagerly approached: “Assistant Jiang, you’re truly a busy person.” Jiang Nuan could tell there was more to his words: “Mr. Chen, sorry for the wait.” After Jiang Nuan sat down, Mr. Chen pushed the project document towards her: “Please approve this project, Assistant Jiang. It won’t be a loss.” Jiang Nuan flipped through the document, tapping her fingers lightly: “Three million, Mr. Chen, you’re not picky, are you? You’ll take anything.” Mr. Chen’s smile froze. His face twitched, and he threatened: “Don’t be ungrateful. I’ve been with Mr. Fu since the beginning. Just sign it obediently…” Jiang Nuan interrupted him: “I’ve already handed over the evidence of your embezzlement to the relevant authorities. You can ask for that money in prison.” As she got up to leave, Mr. Chen became agitated. “Slut! You’re just a plaything Fu Yusen used to get here! How dare you threaten to send me to jail!” He picked up an ashtray from the table and hurled it at Jiang Nuan! Panicked, Jiang Nuan saw the ashtray about to hit her head when a strong arm pulled her into a solid chest. Then, ‘Bang!’ Mr. Chen was kicked down fiercely! “Chen Deli, you dare touch my person.” Fu Yusen looked at Mr. Chen as if he were looking at a dead man. Even a cunning old fox like Mr. Chen was startled by the undisguised ruthlessness in his eyes. “No, Yusen, are you really going to do this to your uncle over such a trifle…” Fu Yusen didn’t even listen, telling the security outside: “Take him straight to the police station.” Hearing this, Jiang Nuan’s heart skipped a beat. She wanted to say something but decided against it. She calmed her racing heart and stepped out of the man’s embrace: “Thank you, Mr. Fu.” Fu Yusen leaned in slightly, his voice deep: “If you really want to thank me, perform well tonight.” His hot breath sprayed on her ear, making Jiang Nuan’s face flush. At that moment, a young assistant knocked on the door: “Mr. Fu, a woman claiming to be your fiancée is here to see you.” Jiang Nuan was stunned, then heard Fu Yusen say: “Let her come up directly.” Jiang Nuan couldn’t help but look at him, only to see a cold profile.

Chapter 2

Lin Bei looked at her with utmost disdain: “Just thinking about being friends with her makes me sick!” Jiang Nuan’s face turned pale in an instant. Fu Yusen smiled: “She is quite dirty.” He extended his hand to Lin Bei: “Let’s go, I’ve reserved a spot at your favorite private restaurant.” Lin Bei took his arm, and they left together. Jiang Nuan stood there for a long time before turning back to work. At 9:30 PM, after finishing her work, Jiang Nuan went to the restroom. Just as she was about to leave, she heard voices outside: “I heard Mr. Fu sent Mr. Chen to jail for Jiang Nuan.” “Tsk tsk, I heard her mother was like that too. It’s really ‘like mother, like daughter’…” “Squeak.” Jiang Nuan pushed open the cubicle door. The unfinished sentence abruptly stopped. Caught talking behind someone’s back, the two stuttered: “Assistant… Assistant Jiang, we…” “Please step aside.” Jiang Nuan gave them a cold glance, washed her hands, and left in her high heels. Such rumors had been circulating since she was promoted to assistant by Fu Yusen, and she was already used to it. When Jiang Nuan returned to her apartment, it was already one in the morning. Lying in bed, she stared blankly. Thinking about the day’s events, she felt a bit stifled: Did Fu Yusen really stand up for her, or was he using her as a pawn? He wanted to purge the company of parasites, but she was pushed out as a decoy, roasted over the fire. As she pondered, her phone rang. It was Fu Yusen. “Come pick me up at Sheng Tang Club.” That was all he said before hanging up. Jiang Nuan sighed, grabbed her clothes, and left without hesitation. Half an hour later, VIP room at Sheng Tang Club. Jiang Nuan pushed the door open. All eyes turned to the woman entering, her perfect figure barely hidden by her white shirt and black skirt, but with an incredibly innocent and captivating face. Someone laughed out loud: “Mr. Fu picked a great assistant, handling both work and personal life.” Laughter erupted around her, but Jiang Nuan acted as if she didn’t hear, maintaining a professional smile as she approached Fu Yusen at the center. “Mr. Fu, I’m here to pick you up.” Before Fu Yusen could respond, a man beside him suddenly spoke: “So you’re the famous ‘Assistant Jiang’ of Fu Group?” The man’s gaze made Jiang Nuan uncomfortable. She kept her composure: “You flatter me, I’m just a minor assistant at Fu Group.” The man’s interest peaked, his tone turning serious: “Mr. Fu, I’ve just returned to the country. Can I borrow your assistant?” Jiang Nuan’s heart skipped a beat, then heard Fu Yusen say. “Mr. Lin, if you want her, take her.” With that, Jiang Nuan was pulled by Fu Yusen, stumbling and half-kneeling on the couch. Fu Yusen gently caressed her cheek, his voice icy: “But you’ll have to wait until I’m tired of playing with her.” Jiang Nuan felt her heart plummeting into an abyss, with no end in sight. She forcibly composed herself and managed a smile: “Mr. Fu is drunk, I need to take him home. Tonight’s expenses will be on Fu’s account.”

Seeing her so calm, the crowd was slightly astonished. This woman, she doesn’t seem like the gold-digger they rumored her to be.

Jiang Nuan stepped forward to support Fu Yumo, and he didn’t refuse.

Just as they stepped outside, Fu Yumo’s phone rang. Jiang Nuan caught a glimpse of the name on the screen. Lin Bei.

She tactfully stepped away a bit.

A voice suddenly came from behind Jiang Nuan. “Assistant Jiang, how much does Fu Yumo give you each month?”

Jiang Nuan turned around to see the same Mr. Lin standing behind her, his gold-rimmed glasses lending him an air of a refined scoundrel.

Jiang Nuan put on a mask-like smile: “Mr. Lin.”

But Lin Chao reached out to pinch her chin: “How about coming with me? Fifty thousand a month, what do you say?”

The grip of his hand was intense, as if he wanted to crush her.

Jiang Nuan couldn’t break free, so she lifted her eyes, her gaze naturally seductive, tinged with a hint of mockery. “Mr. Lin, fifty thousand a month isn’t enough to keep me.”

A certain part of Lin Chao’s heart stirred, and his grip loosened.

Just as Jiang Nuan was about to push him away, Fu Yumo’s voice, filled with anger, came: “Jiang Nuan, come here.”

Under the lights, Fu Yumo’s aura was icy and intimidating. Lin Chao let go, laughed, and turned to leave.
