The next day, back in Beijing, Chu E fell asleep immediately. Her phone had been turned off since separating from Gu Yanzhi, and no one could disturb her. She slept until evening, waking to a sky full of sunset glow.
Just after turning on her phone, a series of text messages and voice messages popped up, all from Gu Yanzhi. Chu E deleted the messages and voice notes one by one, sighed, thought about calling him, but decided against it, in case Song Yunhua was beside him.
Her stomach growled, reminding her she hadn’t eaten since yesterday. She lazily got up from bed to find something to eat in the kitchen.
She had just started eating instant noodles when the doorbell rang. Chu E was stunned and went to open the door. Seeing the travel-worn Gu Yanzhi, she was shocked, “You?” Her mouth was open, but she couldn’t form a complete sentence.
Gu Yanzhi entered with a dark face, looking at her heavily. Chu E’s mind was still catching up, “You, aren’t you in Shanghai?” His expression terrified her.
Honestly, since knowing him, she always thought he was someone who wouldn’t change color even if Mount Tai collapsed, always appearing detached and calm. She had never seen such a frightening expression from him.
“Why did you leave without saying goodbye? Why did you come back overnight? Why are you so willful?” He stared at her fiercely, his eyes almost shooting fire, “Do you think you’re still a child of ten, doing whatever you want? Please be mature and rational, don’t be so impulsive, okay?”
