Chu Yue poured her a glass of water. “Are you feeling better?” She had always wanted to distance herself from them. She never expected Lin Lan would show up again! She silently sighed, “Why have you come to see me?”
Lin Lan took the water, her sharp eyes catching the kiss marks on Chu Yue’s neck. “Chu Chu, are you in love?” She stared at her with a complex expression.
Chu Yue was startled, stammering nervously, “You, what are you talking about?” She instinctively pulled at her collar.
Lin Lan laughed, “Chu Chu, you’re still the same. Whenever you’re nervous, you always stammer!”
Chu Yue grew a bit angry. “Did you come this early just to mock me?”
“I have a friend who just returned from a business trip,” Lin Lan answered evasively, moving closer to Chu Yue. “Do you know where from?”
“Where?” Chu Yue was confused about why Lin Lan was telling her this.
“Shanghai!” Lin Lan softly spoke the two words.
Chu Yue’s heart skipped a beat. She forced a casual laugh, “So what? What does that have to do with me?”
Lin Lan stared at her. “Chu Chu, are you still going to play dumb? Aren’t you going to tell me the truth?”
Chu Yue’s face darkened. “Lin Lan, what do you mean? If you have something to say, just say it directly…”
“Fine!” Lin Lan said. “Since that’s how it is, I’ll get straight to the point. Chu Chu, you know that man has a wife. Why are you throwing yourself into danger?”
