Though she couldn’t hear outside sounds, Tao Yu carefully listened at the door, wanting to know when the housekeeper would return to his room.
Yue Ze, watching her efforts, smiled: “Don’t be too nervous. He probably won’t stay in the hall for long.”
“You can’t be sure. Maybe he wants to stay there today,” Tao Yu was anxious. She felt frustrated with her own indecisiveness.
Finding her posture awkward, Yue Ze grabbed her waist and pulled her back. Tao Yu yelped and looked back reproachfully: “Is this really the time for jokes?”
“Don’t worry. I’ll definitely take you away today,” Yue Ze said seriously.
Tao Yu rolled her eyes, but before she could speak, a knock came at the door. They both tensed, then heard the housekeeper’s voice through the door: “Young master, are you back?”
Tao Yu looked panic-stricken at Yue Ze. His eyes narrowed, his expression slowly changing, and he lightly coughed, softly responding: “Mm.”
The housekeeper, hearing the young master’s voice, seemed conflicted: “Why did you suddenly come back? Can we talk?”
“You go back. I’ll personally take Tao Yu to the amusement park,” Yue Ze said coldly, his voice carrying a hint of long-term illness.
Though Tao Yu had initially recognized him, when he began impersonating Yue Lin, she was momentarily stunned. Then she realized they were essentially the same person, so it was natural he would perform so convincingly.
This thought calmed her, and she was no longer as panicked about the housekeeper’s arrival. The housekeeper indeed didn’t detect anything, merely puzzled by the young master’s sudden change of plan.
He smiled: “That’s good. I won’t have to worry about the young madam finding out. The new dress has arrived. Why don’t you choose a beautiful one for your date?”
Yue Ze immediately looked at Tao Yu. Feeling guilty from the housekeeper’s unknowing tone, Tao Yu quickly composed herself: “Okay, housekeeper. I’ll choose one right away.”
The housekeeper nodded, glanced at the maid, and left, ready to take a day off.
Tao Yu brought the clothes in through the door. Yue Ze looked and said displeasedly: “Ugly. I thought you would refuse.”
“…I was afraid he’d get suspicious,” Tao Yu carefully looked at Yue Ze. “Since he’s gone, let’s leave quickly.”
