Don’t Mess with the CEO

He tightened his jaw. “My requirements for you are written in that contract. Nothing more. Those assets were ‘compensation’ for you acting with me, that’s all.”

With that, he walked out without looking back.

”President Wei walks so slowly. Such a short distance, and it took nearly five minutes.”

He strode out the door and looked into the parking lot, seeing Qingyan leaning against the car, looking at her watch.

She hadn’t left! A sense of relief strongly struck his heart.

He walked over slowly. “Were you waiting for me?”

”I don’t want to miss dinner and have to pay for a taxi home.”

He narrowed his eyes at her. Was this rebellious young woman deliberately trying to provoke him?

”You’re quite clear-headed,” he mused. “If you hadn’t run out, your dinner would have been taken care of.”

”I don’t want to eat with your ex-girlfriend. Who knows what you two did in that private room.”

Wei Zhanyi’s dark eyes suddenly filled with emotion, his expression changing repeatedly.

From initially wanting to strangle her, to suddenly laughing as if discovering something interesting, to finally suppressing all emotions and staring directly at her.

Qingyan felt goosebumps all over. “What are you looking at?”

”You’re interesting. Very interesting.” He laughed again, his smile reaching the corners of his eyes.

”You seem happy. Is it because of the ‘ex-girlfriend’ situation?” Somehow, she found her own words bitter.

He remained silent, continuing to laugh, as if knowing a great secret that only she was unaware of.

”Stop laughing.” His laughter irritated her.

He stopped his shoulders from shaking and looked at her seriously. “Ding Qingyan, you love me.”

She was stunned, her heart suddenly racing like a drum.

What did he say? She… loved him? No, impossible! Don’t ask her why, she just knew it was impossible.

She deliberately ignored the voice of agreement deep in her heart. “No, I want to hit you.”

”No, you love me. You’ve loved me from before.” His arrogant smile was blinding.

”No, I don’t…” She instinctively objected.

”You’re smart, but not frank enough. It’s a deadly flaw.” He sighed.

He looked at her, taking steps closer.

Escape, escape quickly, or it’ll be too late! Alarms rang in her heart, but her legs seemed pinned by his gaze, unable to move.

He approached her, walking slowly like a lazy beast, seemingly leisurely but actually full of potential energy.

She suddenly felt her whole body go soft. His gaze made her feel like a delicious dessert, melting like ice cream.

I’m sure you’re just using the pretext of an interview to get to know me better.”

”How narcissistic!” “So what if that’s the case?”

”When did you start being interested in me?”

”A long time ago.” She instinctively answered, then suddenly realized he might misunderstand. “I mean the events that happened to you.”

”If you didn’t love me, you wouldn’t be curious about what happened to me.”

”Everyone is interested in the scandals of the wealthy.”

  ”Not you.”

”How do you know?” She was unconvinced. “I clearly am!”

”I just know.” He again showed a smile full of superiority.

”Did you say the same thing to He Qianqian?” A sour taste choked her throat.

”I directly approached her agent to discuss a contract.”

  ”What contract?”

”To hire her as my ‘girlfriend’ for a month.”

She was stunned, casting a suspicious glance at his… uh… trouser zipper area.

”You must have some physical defect, otherwise why would you…”

He growled: “Ding Qingyan, watch your words. If I have a physical defect, you won’t have it any easier.”

No man could tolerate being questioned about his “capabilities”. She blushed and spat at him.

”He Qianqian, and those famous women I’ve ‘dated’, were all just creating my playboy image.” He naturally knew how notorious he had been half a year ago.

Her mind raced. “To fool your enemies?”

  ”Exactly.”

”Using emotions as a transaction?” Her tone was full of disapproval.

”Using ‘acting’ as a transaction.” He emphasized.

”But she fell in love with you.”

”She was unprofessional, not dedicated enough, and didn’t respect the contract she personally signed.”

He was a bit cruel… no, for women with fleeting intentions, he was extremely cruel.

But for some reason, hearing him talk about another woman so coldly made her feel… damn good!

It was just an act, he didn’t truly love the other person, which made her mood jubilant, and a small smile involuntarily appeared at the corner of her mouth.

”If you have even a bit of pleasant feeling, you’ll have to admit your extraordinary feelings for me.”

  ”No way!”

Before she could finish speaking, something rustled in the bushes, and a man in a tattered coat suddenly burst out.

”Wei Zhanyi, I want your life!” He charged out viciously, clearly having been lying in ambush for some time.

Qingyan was startled. “What’s wrong with you, you can cause trouble everywhere!”

Wei Zhanyi’s expression darkened, all previous ease disappearing.

Damn, how did Wang Youan, the eldest son of Wang Jinqiang, appear here? “Qingyan, step back.”

She moved to the side, fumbling in her bag, pressing the recorder’s button and turning on the digital camera’s video mode, taking the opportunity to capture the person’s appearance.

She recognized him, but as far as she remembered, Wei Zhanyi hadn’t completely destroyed his enemies’ families, instead allowing them to keep small companies. There had been reports later that the three’s descendants went to Macau with money, trying to make a comeback, but not only did they not win, they also ended up deeply in debt.

Wang Youan’s eyes were bloodshot. “It’s all because of you that my father collapsed, that I went from being a high-ranking general manager to a beggar, from living in a mansion to being homeless in the park. I’m going to kill you!”

  A gun barrel suddenly appeared.

Wei Zhanyi quietly took out his phone, holding it in his palm, his eyes fixed on him, waiting for an opportunity.

”Just one shot to the neck, breaking your carotid artery, and even if the gods came to save you, it would be useless.” Wang Youan laughed maniacally.

Qingyan’s hands went limp, lowering the digital camera, his threat echoing in her mind.

  Wei Zhanyi cannot die!

She suddenly pulled out a loud alarm. The 140-decibel volume startled Wang Youan, causing his aim to shift just before pulling the trigger. Then she jumped out, forcefully pushing Wei Zhanyi away—

Whoosh! Everything seemed to move in slow motion, the bullet flying towards her. If she just dodged a bit, she’d be fine…

She fell to the ground with a bang, not feeling pain, just feeling her left side going numb, without strength.

”Qingyan, what are you doing?” Wei Zhanyi roared.

”One more shot, and we’ll be a couple in death!”

Wei Zhanyi threw his phone backhand, the high-speed spinning phone hitting Wang Youan’s tiger’s mouth. In pain, the short gun fell to the ground. Before he could bend down to pick it up, Wei Zhanyi had already rushed forward, kicking the gun into the gutter and striking the back of his neck with a precise chop. Wang Youan passed out from the pain.

He turned around to see Qingyan slowly crawling on the ground, a trail of blood!

Damn! She was injured! She was actually injured in front of him!

He rushed to her side, holding her in his arms, angrily asking: “What were you doing?”

  ”Phone.”

”What do you want the phone for?” He pressed hard on her wound. Good heavens! She needed immediate medical attention. Her little face was quickly turning pale.
