Four Kings and One Queen 2

The other three furrowed their brows, silently thinking: ‘Things won’t be this simple…’

[Volume Three Demon Cult: Chapter 79 Yu Mo’s Death.]

The next morning, the elders from various sects were about to leave. They lined up to hug me or pat my head, giving me a bunch of special products from their sects, which I graciously accepted.

‘Good granddaughter, come play with grandpa when you’re free.’

‘Sweetie, remember to practice well, and definitely remember your grandma…’

‘Han’er, take care of yourself…’

‘I broke out in a cold sweat. Is this a farewell or a final goodbye?

‘Grandpas and grandmas! Safe travels! I’ll come visit you often!’ The elders wiped tears, looking back multiple times as they left.

I turned to the other three, frowning, ‘Where’s Yu Mo?’ Bao Xi shook his head, ‘Don’t know, didn’t notice.’ ‘Seems like no one saw him leave the room…'”

“Shu Yang and Shang furrowed their brows, sensing something bad might have happened.

“Oh no!!” I shouted, racing to Yu Mo’s room, with the others close behind. At the door, I saw the window paper punctured. My heart sank. I knocked desperately, “Yu Mo!!! Open the door!!!”

I pushed against the door, but it was locked! Anxiously, I kicked it open. Yu Mo lay on the bed, pale and silent.

Tears burst forth as I ran to him, violently shaking his body, “Yu Mo, don’t sleep! Wake up!” I screamed.

Shu Yang checked Yu Mo’s breath, his body trembling before shaking his head. “Han’er, Yu Mo… is gone.” My heart felt scraped by a knife. I collapsed on the ground, whispering: “How is this possible…”

My world lost color and fragmented. Tears flowed fiercely as I hugged Yu Mo’s body, “Ning Yu Mo! Why are you so cruel?! Come back! I command you to come back!!”

“Wo wo wo~~”

The next day and night, I sat blankly under the tree in front of Yu Mo’s grave, unable to eat or speak, crying silently, staring at Yu Mo’s tombstone like a lifeless puppet.

Bao Xi knelt down, crying and begging, “Xiao Han, don’t torture yourself. The dead cannot be brought back to life. You’ll harm yourself. Please, say something or hit me, don’t be like this..”

Shu Yang brought over some porridge, saying, “Xiao Han, Bao Xi is right. If Yu Mo’s spirit sees you like this, he’ll be heartbroken.” Shang took my hand, gently saying, “Han, without him, you still have us.”

They stayed with me for a day and night, pleading tirelessly.

But only the moments I spent with Yu Mo played repeatedly in my mind. That Yu Mo, who always laughed mischievously and was caring about face, had left me forever.

Thinking of this, tears flowed again.

The three looked at me painfully, unsure of what to say. After I calmed down, I continued to stare at Yu Mo’s tombstone.

Shang pulled Bao Xi and Shu Yang aside. Bao Xi wiped his swollen eyes, “Brother Shang, should we send Yu Mo’s body back to Zhen Ming Kingdom?” Shang didn’t answer, looking seriously at Shu Yang, “What poison killed Ning Yu Mo?”

Shu Yang thought for a moment, “That’s Soul-Stealing Incense, odorless but deadly when inhaled.”

“Are you sure?” Shang asked.

Shu Yang nodded firmly, “Who did it?” Bao Xi questioned. Shu Yang and Shang simultaneously said, “Xiao Wanyue.”

Shang whispered something in Shu Yang’s ear that made him tremble.

“How is that possible?” Shu Yang looked skeptical, “Are you saying Xiao Wanyue loves Yu Mo?”

Shang nodded, “Yes. So do you think Xiao Wanyue would kill someone she loves? If it were you, could you do that?” Bao Xi looked confused. Shu Yang said, “So you’re saying…” Shang nodded in agreement.

Shu Yang ran over, “Xiao Han, shall we go back?” Seeing his pleading look, they had already accompanied me for a day and night; they must be exhausted. And Yu Mo needed some peace. I silently nodded.

Shang carried me back to the inn. I lay in bed, unable to sleep. Yu Mo, why are you so cruel? You worked so hard to rescue me from the Demon Sect, even neglecting state affairs, but now that we’re finally together, why do you leave me?

Are you going to abandon your kingdom, your people, your throne, and me? Are you going to abandon me too?

I spent the entire night sleepless and in tears. The next morning, Shang took me to Yu Mo’s grave. He set me down, walked to the grave, touched the moist soil with his index finger, and a smug smile appeared on his face. I didn’t understand why he was smiling.

After a while, Shang and Shu Yang exchanged a glance, slowly saying, “Just as I expected…”

Shu Yang held my hand, smiling gently, “Xiao Han, Yu Mo hasn’t left you.” Shocked, I grabbed Shu Yang’s shoulders, “What? What did you say? Are you saying Yu Mo isn’t dead?!”

Shu Yang and Shang nodded, and Bao Xi also looked joyful. “Where is he?” Even if Yu Mo was at the ends of the earth, I wanted to rush to him immediately, knowing the pain I felt thinking he had left me.

I rose and picked up the blanket beside me, draping it over Bao Xi, then lay back in Shu Yang’s embrace, greedily inhaling Shu Yang’s unique fragrance. “Shu Yang, does Shang know where Yi Mo is?”

Shu Yang continued to smile, “I don’t know.” I was stunned, “If he doesn’t know, how will he find Yi Mo?” “By intuition,” Shu Yang said matter-of-factly. I fell silent and patted the car door, “Shang! Stop the car!”

Ma Long Xiao let out a neigh, and the horse-drawn carriage steadily came to a halt. I jumped down, pulled out a jade hairpin from my chest, and shouted: “Jade Emperor Godfather!!!” Soon came a response: “Hanr, can’t you call a bit softer? My ears will go deaf.”

“Stop talking nonsense, Godfather! Quickly tell me how to summon the Land God!”

“I speak at an inhuman speed, and the Jade Emperor Godfather obligingly replies: ‘Stomp the ground hard, then shout the old man’s name.’

‘Well, I have things to do, goodbye Godfather!’ I immediately put the jade hairpin back in my chest, stomp the ground with all my might, making the earth shake three times, and loudly shout: ‘Land God Grandfather! Come out right now!!!’ This action feels familiar, like I’ve seen it on TV…

Under three pairs of eyes looking as if they’ve seen an alien, the Land God appears wearing an oversized char siu bao, gloriously making an entrance: ‘Who’s calling so aggressively?!’ ‘Me!’ I raise my hand in response.

Seeing it’s me, the Land God almost goes weak-kneed in fright, his tone dramatically changing: ‘Ah, Miss Xiao Han! That stomp was truly magnificent!’ Uh, the Land God is really a sycophant… ‘I want to ask you something.’

‘Yes, yes, please go ahead,’ the Land God bows obsequiously. ‘Where is Ning Yi Mo now?’ I ask bluntly. ‘Okay, wait a moment,’ the Land God pulls out a laptop, and I collapse – this Land God is such a novice! Using a computer!!!

‘In the underground chamber of the Demon Cult,’ the Land God says with a smile. I glance at Shang, who looks embarrassed, saying, ‘We went in the opposite direction…’

Wow, even Shang can make mistakes, but nobody’s perfect. ‘Hehe, no problem.'”

” I turn around, grabbing the Land God’s collar, “Tell me, how can we quickly get to that ghostly place?!”

The Land God looks terrified, swallowing nervously, “I’ll send you there, whoosh~ and you’ll be there.” I look skeptical, but he nods repeatedly, “Yes, whoosh.”

With the baby not around and no flying carpet, it seems convenient. I agree, and indeed, it’s a ‘whoosh’ and we’re there. The Land God sends us and then cowardly runs away.

When we crane our necks to look up, we realize the Land God is a novice guide! He couldn’t have sent us anywhere else but right in front of Xiao Wan Yue and Xiao Chen Yue. The siblings are now looking at us like we’re steaks.

Xiao Wan Yue smiles, “You arrived faster than expected.” “Did you think we’d come slowly? Do you think we’re idiots?” I put my hands on my hips, though my legs are shaking uncontrollably.
