“You little girl!” Lou Shanyan looked helpless, lightly patting Jie’er’s head, then turned to the blue-clad man, “Manager Qin, could you please arrange for my friends to rest in the West Wing? I need to go see my father!”
…
“Young Master Yan, please be at ease. I received your message about guests arriving, and the guest rooms in the West Wing have been prepared. Please follow me to rest,” Manager Qin said respectfully.
Though his status didn’t seem low, he appeared obsequious towards Lou Shanyan, which somehow felt uncomfortable and off.
Manager Qin led Jie’er through twists and turns, finally reaching the so-called West Wing. Jie’er could now understand how Liu Laolao felt entering the Grand View Garden for the first time!
After winding through the corridor, Manager Qin pointed to a courtyard and told Jie’er, “Miss, you can stay here. I’ve already instructed the maids to prepare everything. You must be tired from your long journey, so please rest. The kitchen has been notified to prepare food that will be sent over soon!”
“Thank you, Manager,” Jie’er politely nodded.
After the manager left, Jie’er began carefully examining the courtyard, discovering it was called “Youyuan” – a name that seemed melancholic to her.
Youyuan? Lingering sorrow? She wondered who came up with such an odd name.
The environment was serene, the decor luxurious, far from an ordinary guest room. Jie’er didn’t overthink it and headed straight to the bedroom to sleep.
She hadn’t properly rested the entire journey and was determined to sleep her fill. Moreover, the bed looked so large and soft, incredibly tempting!
“Miss!” Seeing Jie’er about to collapse onto the silk bedding without removing her clothes or shoes, Butterfly quickly called out to stop her.
Jie’er ignored her, covering herself with the blanket and turning to one side. Butterfly could only shake her head helplessly and start unpacking their luggage.
When she awoke, it was already dusk. Jie’er felt extremely hungry. That useless Butterfly hadn’t even woken her for a meal and had probably already gone to sleep.
With no other choice, Jie’er gently pushed open the door to find something to eat. Fortunately, lanterns hung along the corridor, so despite the darkness, she could see. Following her memory, she tried to find her way to the kitchen.
But she forgot one crucial problem – she was a genius at getting lost, unable to navigate even a small courtyard, let alone the massive Lou family fortress. The maze-like architecture, combined with the night, made her lose her way after just a few turns. She could only continue walking along the corridor, hoping to encounter someone who could guide her back…
…
Seeing the confusion in her eyes, the handsome man laughed arrogantly, “Woman, remember this, my name is Lou Shan Yu, oh right, I’m the biological brother of the person you mentioned!” After saying this, he turned around gracefully, his sleeves fluttering, and was about to leave.
Jie’er suddenly felt oxygen-deprived, unable to react for a moment. By the time she understood the meaning of his words, he had already walked more than ten steps away. Angrily stomping her foot at his back, she shouted, “Hey, come back! You haven’t told me how to get back!”
The guy actually stopped in his tracks, but didn’t turn around. In a low voice, he said, “I’m not interested in stepping into the West Courtyard. If you don’t want to wander around all night, follow me!” Then without waiting for Jie’er, he continued walking forward…

Although this guy’s arrogant attitude was very annoying, he was currently the only person who could help her. Forget it, to temporarily solve the immediate predicament, Jie’er decided to endure!
This guy really didn’t know how to be gentle with a woman. She had to half-run to barely keep up with his pace. Jie’er didn’t understand why twin brothers could have such different personalities.
Jie’er followed him into a room, glancing around and noticing the simple furnishings filled with a masculine atmosphere. She asked, “Am I sleeping here tonight?”
“This is my bedroom. You can choose to sleep on the soft couch outside, or make do on the table over there,” Lou Shan Yu shrugged, with an indifferent expression.
“What?” Jie’er exclaimed in disbelief.
“What, are you thinking of sleeping with me?” He suddenly leaned in with a wicked smile, “Although you’re not that attractive, women are all the same in the dark. If you really want me, I can barely manage it!”
Jie’er glared at him furiously. Damn it! This super shameless and vulgar bastard. A-Yan having such an older brother was truly pitiful. She gritted her teeth, “I’ll sleep outside!”
“Suit yourself!” He chuckled and began undressing to go to bed. Seeing Jie’er standing still, he stopped and asked, “What, changed your mind and want to sleep with me?”
“No way!” Jie’er immediately retorted, rubbing her flat stomach. “Um, I’m hungry. Can you help me find something to eat?” If it weren’t for appeasing her stomach, she wouldn’t have run out in the middle of the night, nor would she have been forced to seek help from this scoundrel.
Lou Shan Yu was stunned for a moment, then burst into an unabashed laugh. From their first meeting until now, he had never shown her any respect. She had seen annoying people, but never someone as annoying as him – he was the ultimate bad guy!
What a waste of that handsome face!
Lou Shan Yu walked out and returned shortly with a plate of pastries. Seeing the delicate and tempting treats, Jie’er struggled to suppress her urge to pounce, waiting for him to approach step by step.
Lou Shan Yu pushed the plate in front of Jie’er, rudely saying, “Ugly woman, here!” What, ugly? Was he talking about her?

“Already so fat, and still so greedy,” he said with a disgusted frown.
Enough is enough! A tiger doesn’t show its might, and people think it’s a sick cat! Jie’er slammed her hand on the table and stood up, pointing at him angrily, “Lou Shan Yu, don’t go too far and be so arrogant! What have I done to you that makes you speak so venomously? Let’s have a showdown if you dare!”
“A showdown?” Lou Shan Yu raised his eyebrow subtly.
“That’s right. What, are you scared?” Jie’er raised her head, challenging him.
Lou Shan Yu asked with interest, “So how do you want to have this showdown?”
Under his surprised gaze, Jie’er extended her right fist, making a rock-paper-scissors gesture. She was a civilized person and naturally wanted to choose a civilized way to resolve things.
“This is your so-called showdown?” Lou Shan Yu laughed uncontrollably again.
Seeing him laugh so unscrupulously, Jie’er rolled her eyes in frustration, “What are you laughing at?”
“Haha… Now I understand why Yan brought you back. You’re indeed a very good toy!” After a while, Lou Shan Yu somewhat restrained himself and threw out this concluding remark. Jie’er almost spat blood in anger!
Damn it, a good toy? Why doesn’t he just die…
Jie’er didn’t know when she fell asleep, only that she woke up feeling sore all over. As for the culprit, he was long gone. Jie’er couldn’t understand why, when there were several rooms next door, he didn’t let her stay. He was clearly just trying to mess with her!
Guided by a maid, Jie’er successfully returned to the Quiet Courtyard. As soon as she entered, Butterfly rushed up to her, looking anxious, “Miss, where did you go? How did you disappear so early? I’ve been looking for you for so long!”
