She stared blankly at him. “You… you must be joking! If I wear your clothes, wouldn’t it be almost the same as not changing at all? And worse… your clothes might be even smellier than mine?” Moreover, Xu Xian’en sneakily glanced at the ragged clothes behind him; if she really swapped clothes with him, her figure would likely be completely exposed.
“How could that be?” Xi Ben deliberately lowered his head, sniffing. “That’s called ‘pure masculinity.'”
“Pure masculinity…” she skeptically squinted at him, her face full of disdain. “Where do I see any ‘masculinity’ in a high school boy?”
“That’s because masculinity is something you smell.” He smiled slightly, with a hint of mischief in his smile, raising his right hand and moving it towards Xu Xian’en’s face. “Want to try it? Come on.”
“Not at all!” Her eyes widened in horror, quickly covering her nose with her sleeve, stepping back a few paces.
“Hey, hey, don’t step back so far. If something happens, I might not be able to protect you in time.”
Just as he finished speaking, a strange creature suddenly fell from the tree, startling Xu Xian’en.
“Ah—” she screamed, flailing her arms as she jumped away.
“What’s wrong?” Xi Ben quickly hugged her.
“There… there’s something…” Xu Xian’en weakly pointed to the side, while her other hand tightly gripped him. “It fell… oh…”
He stretched his neck to look and chuckled. “It’s just a bird’s nest, don’t be so scared.”
She paled, nodding in his embrace.
She had always hated being in unfamiliar places, which made her extremely uneasy and anxious, but now, the mischievous old heaven had landed her in this bizarre place!
If she were in her prime, it would be one thing; at least, if things didn’t work out, she could sell the high school boy to somewhere like the Charming Pavilion for some money, at least securing herself a warm room and beautiful clothes.
Or perhaps, she might even deceive some money out of some rich old man with the experiences stored in her mind. That wouldn’t be bad either.
But why… why did fate, which refuses to let her die, drop her into such a godforsaken place!
First, there was no warm bed, only a ragged quilt.
