“Feng’er,” Qi Feng panicked, reaching for her hand but was slapped away. He whispered, “I was just joking. I really don’t understand anything.”
Ru Feng ignored him, stating, “I don’t want to get married next month, so no day works.”
“Feng’er!” Qi Feng crouched beside her, looking pitiful.
Ru Feng pretended not to see him.
“Ahem!” Si Tu Jin cleared his throat. “So when do you want to get married?”
Ru Feng pouted, “I don’t want to be a bride in a wheelchair.”
“I want to be the most beautiful.”
“You’re already the most beautiful!” Qi Feng insisted.
Ru Feng ignored him, focusing instead on her legs. “Let’s wait until my legs are better before discussing the wedding.”
A marriage without emotional foundation only leads to an early end, which may be a blessing for both parties.
“I hope Sister Suifeng can get through this quickly, and that the hurt from this relationship ends here,” he thought.
“Dad, find another place for Suifeng to live,” Qi Feng suddenly said.
Situ Jin frowned. “I’m afraid it won’t be easy to tell Yingfeng. But she really can’t live here anymore.”
“Either she finds another place, or Fenger and I will move out. I won’t let Fenger continue living with her. Who knows if she’ll recognize Fenger’s identity and cause trouble?”
Situ Jin nodded. “If you want to move, I’ll go with you. Let’s move Aunt Wu and the others too; I’m used to her cooking.”
Qi Feng drove silently. “Should we move the gardener too, so you won’t be annoyed by how others trim the flowers?”
“Good idea. Include Aunt Li as well,” Situ Jin agreed.
Ruofeng finally snapped, “Dad, do you want to move the table, chairs, sofa, bed, and blankets too?”
“No need for that,” Situ Jin smiled, “I don’t get attached to places, only to people.”
“Dad, this joke is not funny.”
Situ Jin chuckled, meeting Qifeng’s eyes in the rearview mirror, “We can’t let Suifeng know Fenger’s identity.”
Qifeng looked away, “Of course.”
Meanwhile, Suifeng cried uncontrollably. Yingfeng patted her back, “You should have known long ago whether a man’s heart truly belongs to you. Getting over it sooner is better.”
Suifeng shook her head, “I just don’t understand what’s so special about her! Why does Ningyuan remember her persistently? We’ve been married so long, and he won’t even hold my hand.”
“Suifeng, what’s so special about Fenger? After twenty years, can’t you sense it? Even if she has flaws, in Ningyuan’s heart, she’s perfect. That’s love. Do you understand?”
“I’m not resigned…” She covered her face and wailed.
A stolen love ultimately doesn’t belong to you. Yingfeng opened his mouth but said nothing.
“It’s late, I’ll take you home.”
“Home? That’s not my home anymore.”
Yingfeng paused, “You still have things to pack. In a few days, find a house you like, and I’ll buy it for you.”
Suifeng stopped crying and looked at Yingfeng suspiciously. “Big brother, you won’t let me come back and live with you?”
Yingfeng avoided her gaze. “Qifeng is about to get married, and Miss Qiu is at home. It’s not convenient for you to come back. Eventually, everyone will have their own family.”
Suifeng stared at him. “Big brother, if it were Ruofeng today, would you do the same?”
Yingfeng smiled. “Anyway, she’ll be married off and won’t live at home forever.” As he walked away, Suifeng’s cold voice followed. “So anyone named Ruofeng can be blessed by heaven?”
A Situ Ruofeng occupies her beloved’s love; a Qiu Ruofeng is about to occupy her home. She doesn’t believe this name is destined for happiness, not at all.
At that moment, the person named Ruofeng casually opened the pocket behind the front seat. “Oh, are you reading a book?” She reached out to take the book, and Qifeng immediately braked. “Don’t read it, put it back.”
Ruofeng, who wasn’t planning to read it, now insisted, “It can’t be some erotic novel, right?” She stopped mid-sentence, and Situ Jin leaned in curiously. Just then, Qifeng reached to grab the book.
But it was too late. Situ Jin burst out laughing. “《Girl’s Thoughts》, haha, Qifeng, you actually read this?”
Time continued to flow unhurriedly, but for Ruofeng, the days in the wheelchair passed slowly.
Winter had passed, and spring had come to an end.
Her legs had entered rehabilitation therapy. Although she couldn’t walk, she managed basic life tasks like bathing and using the bathroom.
Reflecting on the past half year, she smiled slightly. She wasn’t doing well, and Qifeng was having a harder time.
After bathing her, he took cold showers, which resulted in him catching numerous colds that winter—something he hadn’t experienced in over twenty years. The family doctor repeatedly checked his health and suggested a comprehensive hospital scan.
Ruofeng initially smiled, but her expression froze upon seeing him in the hospital corridor. She waved to the medical staff accompanying her and approached him.
Leaning down, she caressed his forehead with her cool left hand and sighed, “How much blood do you have to bleed?”
He remained motionless, blood flowing across his forehead and body.
The young nurse looked anxious, saying, “I don’t know what’s wrong with him, but he refuses to go to the treatment room.”
Ning Yuan slowly raised his head, looking into a pair of eyes filled with gentleness and compassion, reminiscent of their first meeting many years ago.
Was it a dream?
He opened his mouth but couldn’t say anything, quickly pressing his hand on his forehead alongside hers. It felt as if holding tightly would prevent loss.
Suddenly, she pressed down hard on his forehead. Before he could cry out, she scolded, “Ning Yuan, you’re in the hospital – why aren’t you getting bandaged? Are you waiting to die?”
Ning Yuan blinked, finally returning to reality. She hadn’t scolded him like this before.
Her hand withdrew, and she grabbed his collar, pulling him toward the stunned young nurse. “Please help him get bandaged, thank you.”
Ning Yuan stared blankly, unable to move.
Ru Feng spoke through gritted teeth, “Now. Immediately. Right away!”
Ning Yuan finally responded, “Okay!” As he walked a few steps with the nurse, he turned back, “Will you still be here later?”
Ru Feng pointed to her feet, “Don’t worry, give me an hour, and I won’t be able to leave this hospital.”
Ning Yuan’s smile deepened, “Long time no see. Shall we have lunch together?”
“No, I have plans at noon.”
“Really?” Ning Yuan smiled and turned away.
As he walked off, Ru Feng furrowed her brow slightly.
“He really listens to you!” a familiar voice called from behind.
Ru Feng turned around to see Sui Feng, slightly out of breath from just arriving.
Ru Feng smiled faintly, “He’s injured – he’ll get bandaged sooner or later. He’s not a child.” Without saying more, she walked back, supported by a waiting nurse.
“Did you know Ning Yuan before?”
Ru Feng paused, “Yes, I know him.”
“Qiu Ru Feng!” Sui Feng strode forward, reaching to grab Ru Feng’s clothes, but a strange man shielded her, coldly watching Sui Feng.
Sui Feng glanced at the man, then back at Ru Feng, “Qiu Ru Feng, you’re quite capable. You’ve even kept my second brother’s most capable bodyguard by your side. You dare to provoke other men in front of his people?”
Ru Feng took a deep breath, “Sui Feng, if you don’t reflect on yourself, you’ll lose everyone who cares about you.”
“What qualifies you to say that to me?” Sui Feng sneered, “You couldn’t get into Qiu Chi’s bed, so you climbed into my second brother’s. You’re just a pitiful replacement, sharing some similar mannerisms with someone.”
Ru Feng said nothing more and silently left.
At noon, Qi Feng walked into the hospital garden, looking toward the brightest spot of sunlight, where he saw Ru Feng walking slowly.
The smile in his eyes softened his sharp features. His steps were slightly faster than usual, “Feng’er!”
