The CEO’s Dancing Wife – Part One

I sat on the bed in the bedroom, gently placing my hand on my abdomen, speaking in the softest voice, “Baby, I’m sorry. I love you so much, I wanted you so much, but I can’t let you grow up in a single-parent family. Baby, forgive me, without you, I probably won’t have another baby. I will remember, remember why I lost you.” My self-talk ended here, my heart breaking, unable to speak further, I lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling until dawn. The next morning, I left the house; it was quiet. They had an early flight, Song Li had a business meeting in Luxembourg, and might visit several countries after. By the time they return, everything on my end would have settled. I first went to Auntie Min’s grave, tidied it up a bit, and sat down to talk for a while. At noon, I arrived at the hospital. The female doctor who examined me last time frowned at me, “Have you decided? Did you discuss it with your family? If you go through with this, you might not have the chance to be a mother again!” A chill ran through my body as if I was holding an ice block, the cold spreading through my limbs. I hugged myself, nodding numbly. The doctor sighed slightly, “Alright, lie down here.” I lay on the operating table, outside the window, a peach tree was in full bloom, the vibrant pink making my eyes sting. The cold instruments invaded my body, I gripped the sheet tightly, trying to suppress my trembling. “Auntie Min,” I silently chanted in my heart, tears rolling down my cheeks. “Auntie Min, it hurts so much.” It really hurt, hurt so much that it felt like my heart was being torn apart. What was being stripped from my body was my unborn baby and a precious part of my life.
