Song Li, guessing what had happened, was also pricked by Fang Junjie’s claim of “my person,” subconsciously looking at Fu Xiaotang, who was smiling faintly, naturally leaning into Fang Junjie’s embrace as if it was her rightful place.
Cheng Yu frowned, unable to help but ask sharply, “Young Master Fang, do you know who this woman is?”
Fang Junjie chuckled, “Whoever she is, it’s none of Young Master Yu’s business, right? Song Li asking might make sense, but since you did help Xiaotang today, let me clarify one thing.” Fang Junjie paused, looking slightly serious at Song Li, “Everything in the past is over. From now on, Fu Xiaotang’s matters are the matters of Heaven on Earth. She won’t be your concern anymore. If there’s any issue, come directly to me. I’m always ready to receive you!”说完, he embraced Fu Xiaotang and turned to leave. Song Li instinctively stepped forward, grabbing Fang Junjie’s arm. “Young Master Fang…”
Fang Junjie looked down at the hand clutching his arm, gave a sly smile, leaned in close to Song Li’s ear, and whispered in a deliberately provocative tone, “I know Xiaotang is your ex-wife. You trained her well; she serves me very comfortably!” With a final laugh, he walked away with Fu Xiaotang in his arms. Song Li felt as if he had been punched hard in the face; his gaze was vacant, staring at the arm wrapped around Fu Xiaotang’s slender waist. His heart felt like it was being gnawed at by thousands, if not tens of thousands, of ants, an indescribable mix of pain and itch, wishing he had a knife to plunge into his own chest. Fu Xiaotang, while walking, turned her head back to look at the dazed Song Li, her delicate fingers, like sections of scallion, waving in a half-smiling manner, “Bye bye!”
Chapter Fifty-Four
In stark contrast, Cheng Yu was furious, his anger and resentment boiling over with nowhere to vent. In his frustration, he smashed everything within reach, creating a cacophony of noise. After the vigorous outburst, he was left exhausted, lying on his back on the floor, not minding the scratches on his face or the potential pain from his back. After catching his breath for a while, he looked up at Song Li and said seriously, “Tell me, with the combined strength of the Song and Cheng families, could we possibly overthrow that Fang guy?”
Song Li snapped back to reality, the corners of his mouth twitching as if in a cold sneer, “You’re crazy!”
Cheng Yu stood up abruptly, “I’m crazy? Can you stand it? Their behavior, don’t tell me you can tolerate it!”
Song Li shook his head, his voice flat, “Whether I can tolerate it or not, it’s none of your business.” He then turned to face Cheng Yu, emphasizing each word, “This matter doesn’t concern you anyway!”
Cheng Yu was taken aback, staring at Song Li in silence for a moment before sarcastically murmuring, “Now you say it’s none of my business? You shouldn’t have dragged me into this in the first place. Everyone else can say it’s irrelevant, but not you. Ever since you first told me to meet her, you’ve lost that right!”
“You’re right,” Song Li whispered back, letting out a deep sigh, murmuring almost inaudibly, “I was wrong from the start, and I’ve been punished for it.”
Cheng Yu suddenly understood his implication, looking at him with a complex expression for a moment before slowly standing up to face him, placing a hand on his shoulder, and speaking candidly yet somewhat cryptically, “I can’t bear it. Seeing her with someone else, I have to control myself to not go insane. So, if you can’t help, you’d better stay far away and not interfere!”
A shadow passed over Song Li’s eyes, a strange light flickering within, “What do you plan to do?”
“I want her!” Cheng Yu blurted out aggressively. The moment these three words escaped, he was shocked himself. But it seemed as if he had found an outlet, his previously unsettled mind and spirit suddenly became clear and focused, as if guided by some mysterious force. He became determined and resolute. “I want her,” Cheng Yu repeated with a strange smile, as if these three words gave him immense confidence and pleasure. He then poured out the long-held, somewhat unclear thoughts, “I want Tang Xiaofu, to have her by my side, with only me in her eyes and heart, crying for me, laughing for me. I will bind her to me for life, and no one else can even think of looking at her!”
Song Li seemed taken aback by this declaration, standing in stunned silence for a while, then scoffed dismissively, “You want her? With what? You know Fang Junjie’s background and his dealings better than I do.”
“And what of it?” Cheng Yu was unfazed, returning to his former haughty, high-handed demeanor, “If we don’t try, how will we know?”
Looking at Cheng Yu, who seemed to regain his vigor and fighting spirit in an instant, Song Li felt a pang of envy, jealousy, regret, and anger, all tangled into an indescribable bitter taste. After a long time, Song Li finally managed to say, “I remember telling you I hadn’t signed.”
Cheng Yu raised an eyebrow, looking at him sideways, “So, you mean you’re not letting go?”
Song Li didn’t answer, his face cold as he asked in return, “Do you think she would forgive you?”
“She would never forgive you,” Cheng Yu sneered quickly, his eyes narrowing with a smile, “I don’t need her forgiveness, nor will I stoop to begging her to return. I never regret what I’ve done. I’ll do it my way, whether by force or persuasion, even if I have to bind her, she’ll stay by my side.”
Song Li was utterly astonished, managing to suppress his shock before calmly stating, “Very well, then let’s see who wins this game. Yu, aside from Liu Yi, we’ve never fought over anything, you backed out last time,” a subtle smile appeared on his face, composed and serene, “I look forward to seeing what happens this time.”
Fu Xiaotang and Fang Junjie arrived on the 20th floor, where Situ Nan and his men withdrew. Fu Xiaotang quietly watched Fang Junjie for a moment before softly saying, “Thank you!”
Fang Junjie smiled slightly, not responding directly. He reached out to brush away a strand of hair from Fu Xiaotang’s forehead, then gently swept it back, revealing her full face. “What a beautiful face,” Fang Junjie’s gaze darkened as he meticulously scanned her features, “How many secrets are you still hiding?” His voice was low and husky, tinged with fascination and a touch of bewilderment. This last sentence carried a double meaning, causing Fu Xiaotang to call out weakly, “Master.”
Fang Junjie shook his head, pressing his slender finger to her lips, “I have no intention of blaming you. Those things must be hidden for a reason, probably unpleasant ones. Why dig them up? I’ve always been one to look forward.”
Fu Xiaotang smiled gratefully. Fang Junjie also smiled sincerely, saying, “You look so beautiful when you smile, Xiaotang. Actually, I’ve been thinking these past few days.” He paused, then said seriously, “I want to promote you to be the Number One of Heaven on Earth, how does that sound?”
Fu Xiaotang was slightly taken aback, “Why?”
Fang Junjie smiled faintly, not answering, and led Fu Xiaotang to sit on the sofa, explaining, “Xiaotang, I own the Feiya Group, which has its fingers in almost every pie, except for those unsavory or illicit activities.” Chapter 55: The Wolf and the Fox (Part 1)
