The CEO’s Dancing Wife – Part One

When I finally opened my eyes, my whole body felt like it had been run over by a heavy truck, every bone aching. My temples throbbed as if stabbed with a sharp knife. I didn’t know what had happened; wasn’t I sitting in the living room? How did I end up upstairs after a nap? Suddenly, I felt something was off and sat up, clutching the blanket. There was a man by the bed, shirtless, fastening his belt. My head buzzed, and countless lewd and sinister scenes flashed through my mind like a movie. No, I shook my head desperately, feeling utterly ashamed. This can’t be real, it must be a dream! But the man turned around, and with a clear, mocking laugh, he said, “Awake? I thought you’d be out for a day!” My heart sank into despair; I wished to die right there and then! I glared at him with hatred, wishing my gaze could pierce through him. He watched me with interest, hooking a finger in his shirt as he approached. He patted my face lightly, and I quickly recoiled. He then pinched my chin, half teasing, half mocking, “What’s with that look? Trying to deny it after having your fun? You were clinging to me so tightly just moments ago!” I wanted to rip that smug smile off his face, gritting my teeth, I said, “You bastard! You drugged me!” He shrugged indifferently. “Now you try to act innocent, but you were enjoying it to the max!” He put on his shirt, buttoning it up leisurely, then as if suddenly remembering something, he said, “Oh, by the way, Tian Tian came by earlier!” My heart sank like a stone into the abyss. “What did you say?” “I said, Tian Tian came,” he glanced at me with a gloating smile, “We taught him a lesson!” “You’re lying!” I was thrown into disarray, instinctively refuting. He smirked dismissively, “Why would I lie? He even tried to talk to you, but you ignored him. I had to say, ‘Go, can’t you see Uncle is busy here?’ Only then did he rush out in a panic. You really don’t remember anything?” I was petrified, tears slowly rolling down my cheeks. He paused, then chuckled, “Why cry? I made sure you were covered with a sheet, didn’t expose you at all!” I wiped my tears with the back of my hand, wearily calm, “Cheng Yu, have I ever wronged you? Why do you hate me so much?” His smile gradually faded, and he said seriously, “How could you say that? I actually quite like you!” He sat on the bed, gently touching the hair by my cheek, his eyes hazy, “Your face, your body, your gaze, the way you move, the sounds you make, even the way you cry, I love it all. Damn, you’re just my type.” He paused, murmuring as if to himself, “I don’t know what’s wrong with me, whether it’s Tian Tian or Ji Shanchuan, whenever I see you with another man, I feel uncomfortable, even when you’re close to Song Li, I can’t stand it. Every time I see you smiling shyly at Song Li, I just want to…” He bit his lip, stopping himself. His eyes cleared up, and he looked at me sharply, “Why do you look at me with such hostility? Don’t you believe me?” I just stared at him. Whether what he said was true or not, it was irrelevant to me. All I knew was that I hated him, I wished he would disappear from my sight immediately! He gave a crooked smile, flippantly saying, “Right, you shouldn’t believe me. I was just messing with you. Even I find it disgusting to say that.” He walked to the door, and before leaving, he threw back, “Tian Tian is waiting for you if you have the guts to face him, I’ll be impressed. I’m out of this. Bye!” Chapter Thirty-Eight: A Joyful Illness. I fell ill. The illness came on fiercely; that night I had a high fever, my mouth was full of blisters, and my body felt like it could spit out fireballs. My eyes ached so much I could barely open them. However, my mind was clear, at least I remembered Song Li kicking the door open that day, startling me so much my heart raced for a while. Song Li, despite his cruelty which even his admirer Song Ying would despise, was different from Cheng Yu’s overt sharpness. Song Li was gentle, unobtrusive, and the angrier he got, the more composed he seemed. He rarely lost his temper like this, storming in and trying to drag me out of bed without a word, his face menacing. Seeing my ghastly appearance, he restrained himself, pacing around the room like a wounded beast, ready to tear me apart at any moment. I couldn’t understand his fury. If it was about Cheng Yu, was it my fault? Even if I had brought this upon myself by messing with Tian Tian, wasn’t it Song Li who initially pushed me towards Cheng Yu? Even if he didn’t encourage it later, he had tacitly allowed it. So why was he so angry now? He suddenly lunged at me, shouting, “What did I tell you? Why don’t you listen? You always get into trouble without having the skills to handle it!” With a sweep of his hand, he knocked a vase off the vanity, shattering it with a crisp sound, scattering shards everywhere. The noise seemed to fuel his anger further, and in no time, he had smashed everything breakable in the room. Watching him, I suddenly felt like laughing maniacally. Defiantly, I said in a hoarse voice, “Song Li, what’s this about? If you want to smash things, why not just strangle me? That would free me, and you wouldn’t be angry anymore.” He turned, his gaze like knives, “You think I wouldn’t dare?” His voice was light, but like a tightly wound string, ready to snap and harm. Yet, he did nothing to me, just stood there seething for a while before calming down, looking at me with a dark expression, “Don’t rush, one day I will strangle you!” He didn’t leave after saying that; instead, he pulled over a chair and sat down like a king, calling out to someone outside, “Come in!” Mei Xiang entered with a troubled look, her face turning pale at the sight of the mess, stealing a glance at Song Li before lowering her head even further. Song Li had regained his usual calm demeanor, lighting a cigarette with deliberate slowness, saying, “Mei Xiang, your aunt has been with our Song family for decades. I always thought anyone she trained would be reliable. Even if you had your faults, I’ve let you slide. But our family has no place for those who bite the hand that feeds them.” He paused for a moment, raising his eyebrows slightly, “Pack your things, and from tomorrow, don’t let me see you again!” Meixiang opened her mouth as if to say something, but Song Li, tiredly pinching the bridge of his nose, waved his hand dismissively, “I’ve already considered Manager Lao Mei’s face; otherwise, this wouldn’t have been settled so easily!” Meixiang’s eyes reddened; she had always considered herself half a master in the Song household, accustomed to ordering other servants around, and had never been spoken to so harshly. She shot a resentful glance at Song Li, covered her mouth, and quickly left the room. On the other side, Song Li stood by my bed, looking down at me from above, and said calmly, “Get well soon. Then I’ll find Cheng Ruitian for you, so you two can spend all day together, driving Cheng Yu to death. Got it?” I stared at him with wide eyes; he had just said something so bizarre, clearly, he was really pissed off. So, I lay listlessly in bed for several days. Song Li didn’t come in again. Cheng Yu visited once, but I just turned my back to him, not even glancing in his direction. As for Tian Tian and Song Ying, I didn’t even catch a glimpse of them…
