I casually glanced at him, my eyes falling on the jade pendant on my chest. I still remembered the promise from my dream with the real Yan Yan. I stared at the pendant on my chest and forcefully pulled it off.
I took down the white jade pendant and examined it carefully. It was beautiful. When it hung on my chest, it seemed to have a soul. But once I removed it, everything seemed to vanish.
I casually tucked the pendant into my sleeve, glancing at Cang Lian by the window. He looked so forlorn and wistful, yet it also seemed unrelated to me.
He seemed to sense my gaze and turned around, offering a faint smile: “You’re awake. I thought you would sleep a while longer!” He spoke naturally, his face showing no embarrassment, as if nothing had happened.
“Why did you bring me here?” I asked coldly, knowing my expression must look terrible.
But he seemed not to notice my sarcasm, slowly walking towards me and sitting beside me, smoothing the blanket: “Rest well, your complexion doesn’t look good.” His gentleness was completely different from his previous coldness and arrogance, like two entirely different people.
I coldly looked at him, ruthlessly pushing away his hand that was adjusting my blanket. I didn’t want his kindness or charity: “If you could be kind enough to let me leave this hell, perhaps I would hate you less!” I said mechanically, speaking according to my consciousness.
In that moment, my mind seemed controlled by someone.
I wanted to say something else, but instead spoke words I would never have said to Cang Lian in my entire life. My consciousness began to drift, as if I had completely lost control.
My soul was pushed away, and my body was controlled by someone else. I realized the real Yan Yan had returned to her body, and I had become a wandering ghost.
The cold surroundings echoed with a mocking voice: “Leaving here, you’re dreaming. Do you think I don’t want my body back? Do you think I wanted to become like this? I want everything to return to normal more than you, but it’s impossible forever. Unless you die, if you die, perhaps you can return to your previous body!” Her mockery gradually became sharp and piercing.
