I didn’t hear her response clearly, just feeling myself floating. But in my heart, I was already convinced she was Xiao Wu. After speaking, I picked up the chopsticks she gave me and desperately ate the food.
“Xiao Wu, after I finish eating, let’s go out and walk around. It’s been too stuffy staying here!” I spoke following my consciousness, with a silly smile. This familiar feeling made me feel like I was back when I first entered the Ran household, when we depended on each other daily.
“Yes! As you command!” I heard a respectful response, then continued eating.

“Xiao Wu, let’s go out and walk!” My consciousness was still hazy, my mind becoming cloudy. Some things I should remember, I’ve forgotten, while some things I shouldn’t remember are branded in my mind.
My steps were unsteady, probably from staying in the room for so long. Seeing the sun was also unfamiliar.
“Xiao Wu, bring an umbrella, the sun here is too bright!” I said woodenly, turning to look at her.
She heard my command and stood up to leave.
I continued wandering, using my sleeve to shield my eyes: “Seems I’ve been away from light for too long, no longer used to brightness!” I looked up at the piercing sun, speaking self-mockingly.
Perhaps because of the direct sunlight, my head began to hurt intensely, as if being pricked by needles one by one. But I no longer wanted to care about this painful ache, continuing to walk in this courtyard full of catalpa flowers.
I never knew there was such a large field of catalpa flowers here. Pale purple under the silver light, beautiful to the point of fascination. I bent down to pick a flower to put in my hair but was stopped by a hand.
I looked confusedly at the person stopping me: “Xiao Wu, look at this huge catalpa flower field. I planted catalpa flowers at the gate for a long time, but it was just a tender shoot. It couldn’t grow, no matter how carefully I nurtured it.” My head’s intense pain made me unable to recognize who this person was.
