Damn! These incompetent pig-headed subordinates! They almost made her a young widow!
Last night we went to see the night view together. When we were going down the mountain, we encountered a group of reckless drivers who got out of their car to provoke us, and we ended up rolling down the slope. Don’t you remember?”
As soon as he reminded her, all the memories from last night flooded back into her mind. Andoli couldn’t help but let out a groan, still feeling a sharp pain in the back of her head.
“I remember now, what happened to those reckless bastards?” She was in so much pain that she didn’t care about maintaining a ladylike demeanor and felt justified in using a few harsh words.
“They all ran away. I’ve already filed a report with the police. If they find any suspicious individuals, they’ll ask us to come and identify them,” Haino Zenji reached out and gently caressed her pale face, his soft movements filled with tenderness and affection.
“Can I be discharged? I don’t want to stay here,” Andoli suddenly said in a soft, pleading voice.
“No, your injuries are serious. The doctor says it’s best to observe you for a couple more days.”
“Please! Can’t you talk to the doctor? Hire a caregiver to look after me at home, and I’ll come to the hospital for regular check-ups. Wouldn’t that be the same?” Andoli pouted, refusing to back down.
“No means no. Don’t bargain with your health, okay?” Haino Zenji frowned, his expression serious, but a hint of indulgence flickered in his usually cold eyes.
Haino Zenji sighed softly, realizing that his heart of stone was gradually softening in the face of this little woman.
“Do you know why your injuries are more severe than mine?” he asked softly.
Andoli furrowed her brow and shook her head in confusion.
“When we fell down the slope together, you recklessly used your own body to protect me, absorbing much of the impact. Why did you do that?” A rare gentleness appeared in his eyes.
Andoli’s eyes widened, and she smiled innocently, “I remember now. At that time, I just wanted to protect you.”
“Protect me? Shouldn’t I be the one protecting you?” Haino Zenji couldn’t help but laugh.
