Veiled Heartbreak

Jiang Nuan’s mouth tasted bitter as Lin Bei’s hateful words flashed through her mind: “Jiang Nuan, I was blind to think of you as my best friend!”

Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her chest, snapping her back to reality.

Fu Yumo was impatient: “Lost in thought? Hmm?”

Without waiting for Jiang Nuan’s response, he carried her towards the suite upstairs in the club.

The next day, Jiang Nuan woke up to find the space beside her cold and empty.

After a long silence, she got herself ready and headed to the company.

In the CEO’s office of Fu Corporation.

Jiang Nuan knocked on the door: “Mr. Fu.”

Fu Yumo didn’t look up, just pushed some documents aside: “The Chen Deli project, you handle it personally.”

The Chen Deli project was a mess, anyone touching it would get dirty.

Jiang Nuan paused but responded calmly: “Alright.”

In the afternoon, she went to the branch office.

Jiang Nuan had someone call the employees involved in the project, while she sat in the conference room reviewing the accounts.

After checking, her heart sank. The project funds were completely gone.

After pondering for a moment, she called Fu Yumo to report the situation.

Fu Yumo’s voice was calm in her ear: “The funds have been disbursed, and now you’re the project manager. Are you telling me you can’t handle it?”

Jiang Nuan was silent for a moment, then gritted her teeth: “Mr. Fu, rest assured, I can handle it.”

After hanging up, she waited for ten minutes before everyone arrived.

Jiang Nuan scanned the room, noting the disbelief on everyone’s faces.

She spoke calmly: “It’s been two months, and there’s been no progress on the project. Do you have nothing to report?”

The deputy manager sneered: “There’s not a penny left in the account, what do you expect us to do? We’re not like you, just opening your legs would suffice.”

The conference room fell silent.

Even Jiang Nuan’s heart, as tough as steel, couldn’t withstand such words.

She closed the project file and spoke firmly: “Where did the money go? That’s what you should explain to the company!”

“You can pass the buck, but if I push the project forward, it proves you’re useless.”
