The road was lined with flowers, grass, and trees, but she had no mood to appreciate them. The originally peaceful path was now covered in dust from the two luxury cars racing.
Glancing at the fuel gauge, Tao Yu noticed her car was almost out of gas. Just as she was in despair, the road emerged again, with a market on the other side.
The market was full of people. Her eyes brightened, believing that if she could cross the road and hide for more than ten minutes, she could completely escape this world.
She took a deep breath and carefully but quickly crossed the bustling road towards the market.
Yue Linze’s eyes darkened, knowing that if she hid, he might not find her quickly, and she could escape during that time.
He pressed the accelerator, disregarding the vehicles around him, and rushed towards Tao Yu.
As Tao Yu crossed the road, she couldn’t even catch her breath before turning back. She saw a speeding truck and Yue Linze seemingly unaware, still charging towards her. Her mind went blank, and without thinking, she swerved towards Yue Linze.
In an instant, the Maybach’s front was knocked off course, and the truck simultaneously crashed into her, sending her flying.
As she landed, the first thought of the painfully injured Tao Yu was that she didn’t expect to return by self-destructing. Her second thought was, “What a waste of the expensive Maybach…”
She closed her eyes, expecting to wake up soon. However, while conscious, she couldn’t control herself. When she could slightly control her senses, intense pain would cause her to lose consciousness.
Occasionally briefly awake, Tao Yu realized something was wrong, but before she could understand what, she would pass out again.
After a long, hazy period, when she finally opened her eyes, she was met with extreme whiteness, and Yue Linze was staring at her, his eyes flickering with a faint light. His cheeks were sunken, and he was terribly thin. Looking haggard yet abnormally excited, he said, “You’re awake.”
Tao Yu’s first reaction was, “What happened to him?” Then she realized she was in a hospital bed, slowly comprehending the situation.
