Food and Farm: Bringing a Prince to Cultivate the Land – Part One

Jiang Yan bought some noodles to teach them how to make cold noodles, sauce noodles, pork intestine noodles, and pea noodles.

After more than ten days,

everyone had gained some weight.

Two days before the opening, they went to clean the shop and only then bought all the necessary ingredients.

Though they didn’t particularly like Lin Fen,

the night before the opening, Jiang Yan still went to their house to invite them to the shop’s opening the next day.

“What, shop opening? Big Girl, you, you’re opening a shop?”

Lin Fen was very surprised.

“Yes!”

Jiang Yan nodded.

Seeing that she was serious, Lin Fen said with a tone of concern, “Big Girl, you can make money selling Immortal Tofu from a stall. Why bother opening a shop? It’s such a waste of money.”

In fact, she was just probing Jiang Yan,

to see if she planned to sell something else.

“Indeed.”

Su Oldest didn’t understand her intentions and honestly agreed.

Jiang Yan wasn’t afraid of them knowing. With a smile in her eyes, she said, “Of course, it’s not just Immortal Tofu. There’s more. You’ll find out tomorrow.”

Chapter 21: Shop Opening

Seeing Jiang Yan was about to leave,

Lin Fen called out to her, “Big Girl, can you handle all this by yourselves? Do you need our help?”

“We can manage, with Ping’an cousin and the others helping us.”

After Jiang Yan finished, before Lin Fen could say anything, she added, “I’ve invited Ping’an cousin and his group to work in the shop, and I’ll pay them monthly wages.”

The little brat only thinks of Su Ping’an and his group.

Doesn’t even consider their eldest branch.

Lin Fen cursed in her heart but kept a smile on her face, “I see, how much do you pay them per month?”

Jiang Yan answered confidently, “Eight hundred wen. If you want to come, I’ll pay you the same, but I already have enough staff in the shop now. If you want to join, you might have to wait until we open a branch.”

Eight hundred wen.

The two of them would only make one tael of silver and six hundred wen.

Jiang Yan was confident they wouldn’t agree,

because they certainly earned more than that in the county.

“Okay, okay!”

Su Oldest agreed quickly.

Lin Fen was even more annoyed seeing him like this.

After Jiang Yan left,

Lin Fen vented her anger at Su Oldest, “Are you stupid? Can’t you see Big Girl only cares about the second branch, not us?”

Su Oldest glanced at her and retorted, “Don’t you know how you treated them before?”

Was this still the Su Oldest she knew?

Lin Fen was furious, reaching out to twist his ear.

Su Oldest dodged, “If you twist my ear again, I’ll call Big Girl over to see how you treat your big uncle.”

His change was due to Su Oldest’s brother taking the opportunity to talk to him when Lin Fen wasn’t around.

“You…”

Lin Fen didn’t dare to twist his ear again.

The next day, they were to attend Jiang Yan’s shop opening. Lin Fen and her family didn’t make Immortal Tofu in the morning.

They got ready.

And went to town with Jiang Yan and her group.

Arriving at the rented shop,

Lin Fen looked around, feeling envious of the nice location.

How much would it cost to rent this place?

How much could one earn here in a month?

With the noodles already prepared at home,

they opened the shop doors, and soon a young man came in to eat noodles.

Seeing a change in management,

he was about to leave for another place.

Jiang Yan approached to keep him, “Brother, since you’re here, why not try our noodles? We have more than just sauce noodles; we also have pork intestine noodles, pea noodles, shredded pork noodles, and vegetable noodles. The soup base is made from pork bones, it smells and tastes great. The prices are reasonable; vegetable noodles are the same as elsewhere, but the shredded pork noodles are a couple of wen more, but you’ll definitely like them. It’s our shop’s opening day, and you’re our first customer. If you eat here, we’ll give you a plate of braised pork as a gift…”

Eating noodles and getting meat for free?

The man didn’t hesitate and ordered a bowl of vegetable noodles for three wen.

The braised pork was Jiang Yan’s special recipe.

Unique to the shop.

Before it was even served, the aroma was overwhelming. The man caught a whiff of an enticing spicy aroma. He took a bite. It was irresistible. After coming to the surface, the man ate for a while and then asked Jiang Yan, “Miss, how much for a plate of your braised pork? I’d like one.”

“Hello, five coins per plate.” Jiang Yan replied with a gentle tone.

The man hesitated for a moment before ordering a plate. While he was eating, another young man arrived. Seeing how delicious it looked, the newcomer didn’t leave. He asked if it was good, then sat down and ordered noodles. This young man came from a slightly better-off family; knowing that the sauce was made from pork, he ordered a bowl of mixed sauce noodles and a plate of braised pork. Compared to the vegetable noodles, the mixed sauce noodles cost five coins per bowl, but they were indeed much tastier than the vegetable noodles. The man who came earlier decided he would switch to mixed sauce noodles instead of braised pork the next day. When they were almost done eating, Jiang Yan brought each of them a small cup of milk tea. After drinking, both found it quite unique and asked about the price; it was five coins per cup. The young man who came first did not order any. The one who came later, ordered a cup.
