Moxiaoji wanted to curse but couldn’t open her mouth. When she did, no words came out, only a three-forked snake tongue protruding, so disgusting it made her want to vomit.
However, Moxiaoji now knew these snakes were also transformed women, which somewhat reduced her terror.
She wondered why the female ghost transformed so many girls into snakes to give to the sorcerer, and what he wanted with them. A chill ran through her – could it be for some dark sorcery?
As Moxiaoji pondered, footsteps approached.
A man in a white python-patterned robe stepped into the cage, bathed in golden sunlight.
His wide, flowing robe was tied with a soft moonlight-like ribbon, white dragon-patterned boots on his feet, hair elegantly pinned with a serpent hairpin, and a small black snake adorned his forehead, made of some material and gleaming with a cold light.
Perhaps attracted by Moxiaoji’s unusual transformation, he stopped, his ethereally beautiful, cold face slowly approaching her body.
His eyes were black as obsidian, reflecting deep blue light like a night sky, dazzling and brilliant. His nose was sharp and handsome, his thin, moist lips curved in a beautiful arc, radiating a pure and beautiful yet warm essence that involuntarily drew others in.
The snake-transformed Moxiaoji still retained her romantic heart, preferring handsome human men.
With such an unprecedented handsome man before her, she momentarily forgot she was now a snake.
Dashao Ge might have been somewhat complacent due to the admiring gaze that Tang Xiaoyue shot from the snake’s eyes.
His eyes brightened, and with a slight shake of his head, he actually transformed into an enormous white-scaled python.
Mo Xiaoji was immediately stunned. A small scale of the white python was larger than Mo Xiaoji’s entire body. Mo Xiaoji couldn’t bear the tragedy of the handsome guy turning into a python and fainted again, leaving only the white snake handsome guy looking bewildered.
When Mo Xiaoji woke up again, she secretly swore that no matter what strange events might occur, she would not faint again. Just after making this vow, her body went weak, and she was about to pass out again.
She half-closed her eyes, looking left and right, and saw neither the white snake handsome guy nor the pile of snakes.
Mo Xiaoji breathed a sigh of relief, wriggling her body, feeling increasingly hungry. If she didn’t find something to eat soon, she would starve to death before being scared to death.
The sun was bright, flowers were in full bloom, and a subtle floral fragrance drifted in the air.
Mo Xiaoji just realized she seemed to be in a dense forest. She was somewhat confused about how she got here. It seemed like she had been caught by a female ghost and was to be delivered to a witch. Then she saw a handsome guy, who then turned into a snake, and then… she fainted.
Mo Xiaoji shook her head. She had no mood to ponder numerous whys right now.
What was most urgent was filling her stomach. She discovered her intestines were twisting from hunger.
She crawled among the trees, not knowing where to find food, and unsure what snakes eat. It seemed snakes liked eating rats, but the mere thought of rats made Mo Xiaoji feel like dying. If given a choice, she’d prefer to be a little white rabbit eating radishes and vegetables.
Two red earthworms were crawling beside her. Mo Xiaoji glared at the earthworms, her eyes blazing. She was so hungry she could barely move her snake body. Maybe she should just make do and eat them! She closed her eyes, but couldn’t bring herself to strike. It was too disgusting. Mo Xiaoji drooped her head and slithered away, wagging her tail. She seemed to hear the two earthworms mocking her, “We’ve never seen such a stupid snake who can’t even eat an earthworm. What’s the point of being a snake?”
Mo Xiaoji’s mouth was about to twist. Who said she wanted to be a snake? Did she have a choice?
Mo Xiaoji was almost completely desperate. She felt living like this was worse than ending it with a knife.
She moved her nearly stiff body, with sparks flying before her eyes.
Crossing a verdant grassland, a fluffy, snow-white little animal rolled out from the grass.
“It’s Yingluo!”
Mo Xiaoji was so excited she wanted to bite off her own tongue. She rushed to Yingluo’s side without hesitation, rubbing against her. Unfortunately, Yingluo didn’t appreciate her at all, baring teeth and growling.
Mo Xiaoji drooped her head sadly. Now that she was a snake, of course Yingluo wouldn’t recognize her.
Yingluo climbed up the tree, which was full of golden wild fruits. Using sharp teeth, she bit down and ate with great enjoyment.
This made Mo Xiaoji furious. If not for her, how would she have been turned into a snake and nearly died in that forest? If not for that young man who saved her, she would be nothing but bones now.
Mo Xiaoji wanted to roar loudly but couldn’t make a sound.
Utterly depressed, Mo Xiaoji drooped her head, sighing that her luck was truly rotten to the extreme.
Her stomach growling, Mo Xiaoji curled up sadly.
Perhaps moved by Mo Xiaoji’s pitiful state, Yingluo picked some fruits with her paw and threw them down.
Mo Xiaoji immediately perked up. Eating was most important.
Yingluo looked at Mo Xiaoji with a contemptuous expression.
Mo Xiaoji didn’t care, wolfing down the fruits.
Yingluo sneered, “You’re such a strange snake, not eating rats but preferring wild fruits.”
Mo Xiaoji felt Yingluo’s disdainful gaze, lowered her head, and desperately ate the fruits on the ground, feeling so aggrieved she wanted to cry.
“Catch her, quickly catch her, don’t let her escape!” Noisy voices came from outside the forest.
Human voices.
Mo Xiaoji raised her head, her eyes brightening. She wanted to shout, “Who will save me? Who will save me?” But she couldn’t make a sound.
Yingluo didn’t react like Mo Xiaoji. Panicked, she grabbed Mo Xiaoji’s tail and “swooshed” up the tree. The rough bark almost scraped Mo Xiaoji’s belly. Once on the tree, Mo Xiaoji could barely breathe. Yingluo placed her on a branch and “swooshed” back down.
From afar, a woman in a blue patterned coarse cloth dress ran stumblingly, crying, “Help! Help!”
Behind her were several guys in blue cloth clothes, wearing crooked hats, holding knives and swords, laughing, “Miss, don’t run! Our master has taken a fancy to you; our master has plenty of money, guaranteed to make you live in luxury. Come back with us and enjoy yourself!
Moxiaoji hated seeing men mistreat women, and she really wanted to jump down and teach them a lesson. She had spent some time practicing amateur taekwondo, and while dealing with ghosts might be problematic, handling these bad guys seemed quite manageable. However, after hesitating for a while, she remembered she was now just a pitiful snake.
Moxiaoji’s body went limp, and she fell back onto the tree.
Those bad guys caught up with the girl, panting and pulling at her. The girl cried uncontrollably. Just as they were feeling pleased with themselves, one of them suddenly shouted, “Snakes! So many snakes!”
After speaking, they turned and ran for their lives.
The others saw the snakes on the grass and branches too, and were so scared they fled faster than birds could fly.
Beautiful Woman
Moxiaoji wasn’t much better. Seeing the writhing mass of snakes, her beautiful face turned pale. She opened her mouth and spit out the wild berries she had just eaten, then drooped her head and went limp on the tree branch.
The young girl was much stronger. She didn’t vomit and continued crying, her cries even more melodious, almost like singing. Moxiaoji realized for the first time that crying could sound so beautiful.
A white-clad man walked out of the forest, with an otherworldly appearance and graceful demeanor.
Moxiaoji recognized him as the python from the other day.
